Hey all,

Just thought I'd start a thread for those of us that run Trackstar electronics. I run them exclusively and have podiumed a few times with them beating out electronics costing 4 and 5 times what I've paid.

Here's what I run:

RC10B44.3 - Trackstar 120amp Turbo ESC - 5.5t Trackstar "Redcan" - TS920 Servo

SC10.2 - Trackstar 120amp Turbo ESC - 7.5 Trackstar "Redcan" - TS900 Servo

RC10B5M - Trackstar 120amp Turbo ESC - 8.5 Trackstar "Redcan" - TS920 Servo

RC8.2e - Trackstar 150amp GenII ESC - 2100kv 4 Pole 1/8 Scale "Redcan" - TS900 Servo

RC8TCEe - Trackstar 150amp GenII ESC - 2100kv 4 Pole 1/8 Scale "Redcan" - TS910 Servo

In my 1/8 Scale Buggy and Truggy as well as my 2wd SC I run Tunigy Nano-Tech Ultimate 6000mah 90c 2s Packs

In my 2wd Buggy and 4wd Buggy I run the Turnigy Nano-Tech Ultimate 4600mah 90c 2s Shorty Packs

I don't care what anybody says, you can beat the price vs. performance.


EDIT: I've since swapped all the 1/10 scale ESC's out to the 120amp GenII ESC, I find that it is much more responsive and a bit smoother than the Turbo ESC's.

I have a Trackstar 6.5t motor in my Xray XB4 and I'm impressed with it. It's no Tekin or Reedy, but for just starting out in mod classes, it's pretty good.

I ran the Trackstar 4.0 SC motor in a Durango DESC410 for months with multiple podiums (including 2014 Southern Nationals). Lap times didn't suffer switching from a Pro4 4600, in fact it was easier to drive and burned around 800mAh less in a 10 minute main. I figured worse case it was only a $50 experiment........it far exceeded my expectations. I'm going to do some testing with it in my Tekno SCT410 (with light weight option parts).......crossing fingers I get similar results.

When you say "It's no Tekin or Reedy"... what do you mean, exactly? Do you think you'd be able to tell a difference between the Trackstar 6.5t and a Tekin or Reedy 6.5t?

I should have prefaced the OP by saying I've run Tekin and Hobbywing before switching to all Trackstar.

That's awesome! I love hearing stuff like this. Doesn't that kinda make you wonder about their other stuff? ESC's, servos, etc.? You'd probably be just as surprised with them as you are the motor, I know I was.

I've just noticed that with the same gearing it's power curve seems to be higher up in the revs. (it maybe just this motor.)

I put their 45amp esc and 13.5 red can in the wife's 2wd and it's impressive. I was surprised with what all you can do with the program card.
Just pulled the castle stuff out of my mbx6 and put in the gen 2 150amp so I could run sensored. Would have went with their motor but it was out of stock. Once again I went "cheap" and I'm impressed with how everything they are making now actually has good fit and finish to match performance.

I've been really happy with the Turnigy 1258tg servo. It draws a lot of juice and might require a glitchbuster for some setups but it works good with the internal BEC on my Hobbwing stuff. It's a fast, strong quality servo and I find it comparable to the Hitec 7985mg that I also use, but for about half the price.

Gonna try out the 2100kv Trackstar motor in my RC8.2e FT build as well. I've heard lots of good things about them.

I really like the Trackstar 17.5 motor for stock spec, and used one for a year, sold it, and it was raced for another year. Two years on the same motor, not bad at all. Their 550 motors and esc'c a few years back, have not been so good to me, the reason why I don't buy there stuff anymore, but I am running a HK 45 amp esc in my Dex410 with a 10.5 motor, and might pick up the op's esc for it, so I can run a bigger motor.

lol. i have 21.5 in on road, 9.5 in scb. 9.5 in ST. 7.5 in 4wd bug. all the red can except the 7.5 which was bought before they had red cans, still going strong.

x-car 60a in ST and on road car, x-car 80a in 4wd.

the red can motors are excellent. very good motor for the money.

xcar esc are way underrated esc too. easy to adjust with usb and hobbywing software. only one yellow 60a broke and when the circiut board snaped on a harsh landing.

i have had almost of the expensive brands but i went back to xcar, turnigy, and trackstar cause how good luck i have had with them.

Welp, no company is perfect. My TS-D99X servo stripped a gear after running just 2 qualifiers. Such a shame because it was working great and is super fast. Hobbyking was awesome with the warranty though. I submitted an RMA and in about 24 hours I had a credit on my account! No need to ship back the bad product. That's awesome!

Instead of trying another one, I went with the full aluminum case like the TS-920's I've been running. I got a TS-900, I'll put that in the Short Course and swap the TS-920 into the buggy.

21.5 Silver can version in 2 of my F1 cars still run strong after 2 years. Very comparable to the performance of Reedy Sonics and Thunderpower Z3-Rs. They are mated to HW Justock ESCs.

13.5 Red can in 3 1S cars with Nano 6000mAh batteries and Gen II 1S ESCs. They an keep up with any car on the track. They are all Hobbyking Electronics to prove a point on cost vs. competition, so far so good.

10.5 mated to a boosted, turboed Tekin RS Gen 2 in a Speedmerchant Roadkill Pro10. Runs at room temp for 20 minute runs and lap times never fall off.

They have a sensored 1/8 motor that's is the same as the Toro motor. I only see it in the international warehouse though.
