Trackstar Success Stories (Fanboys) Haters Need Not Apply

Can someone give me a run down on what the boost and turbo features on the Trackstar Turbo 120A do?
I've got one in a stadium truck running a 10.5 Turnigy motor. My local tracks current layout has a straight away the full length of the track. I'm looking for a little something extra just on this section. The gearing seems ideal for the rest of the track so I really only need something more for that one straight away. Right now my speed control has all these settings at 0. I'm not sure if it's turbo or boost I want to setup for my situation. I'd rather not have extra power kicking in on the tighter more technical sections.

I love TrackStar stuff. I had a 120a SC (Gen. I) in my e-converted HPI MT2 which is currently owned by a friend of mine and it's been perfect for like 2 years. I have a 45a ESC in my Tacon Valor and a 150a Gen. II in my LX2e truggy/thing and both of them have also been flawless. The only issue I ever had was with one of the waterproof 80a ESCs which immediately caught fire and have a terrible track record from what I've seen. I also have a Turnigy motor in my Valor which is a fantastic motor. I'd like to pick up a TS-900 servo for my LX2e. Just waiting for them to come back in stock.

I recently purchased a TS Gen II 150ESC with a 2350 Kv 4 pole motor and put it in my Losi truggy.
After finally installing it, calibrated and hooked up to the programmer, it seems to have alot of power......even my savox servo seems to have woken up (prev ESC was a Castle 1/8 SW) But I'm just kind of wondering if I can make the on throttle transitions a little smoother.
Of course sensor cable is hooked up and I've turned down 1st stage punch a bit but am I looking in the right place or is this as good as it gets? For comparison, my TC with a MM Pro was alot smoother but maybe for 1/8th its not quite the same?

Could someone recommend an ESC for 17.5 stock buggy? It must be stock legal and on the small side to fit in the Hobby Pro buggy. Thanks

I originally ordered the 120amp Turbo ESC and the Trackstar 21.5 red can motor for a 3Racing F113. I had no experience with the Turnigy electronics prior and was really surpised at the performance. I have been racing that F1 all winter with no issues and it runs very smooth. Since then I have ordered 2 17.5 red can motors and run one in my Xray T3 with no issues. I have also added another 120amp Turbo ESC to my losi 22 2.0 buggy and again I have had no issues and everything runs smooth. Very impresed with the performance and durability of these products. I plan on ordering a 5.5 and 6.5 to try out as well.

Thanks! I love rubbing it in peoples faces that my ESC, Motor and Servo cost less than just their ESC!! They normally look like
"throttle transitions a little smoother"...? How so? Did you play with the throttle deadband or frequency at all?
I'm assuming "stock legal" = blinky mode? Try the Trackstar 120amp Gen II - it is like the 120amp Turbo but, is ROAR approved and has blinky mode. Just note the programmers are different between those two ESC's. For the Gen II you'll need the "Multifunction Program Box"
I am very fond of the 120amp Turbo ESC but, I might suggest you try the 120amp Gen II ESC. It is a bit smaller and smoother in my opinion and has a bit more programming available for just a few dollars more. Like I mentioned above, they use a difference programmer. The Multifunction Program Box

These ESCs have caught my attention from this thread. I've always been very skeptical of anything from hobbyking/hobbypartz. I've only tried gens ace lipos and wasn't too too impressed.
I would be putting it in a b5m and racing stock. Does someone know the weight difference between this and a tekin rs? Also, are the fans detachable? These seem to be getting great reviews everywhere I look.

These ESCs work really good. I had a couple of bumps with the Gen IIs but have recently gave them another shot and have had zero problems. The gen IIs are extremely smooth, noticeably smoother the gen I's. Currently running a 80amp in blinky with my daughters 17.5 SC, I have two Gen I's, one in blinky with a 5.5 in my 4wd buggy and one in my 2wd running a 7.5 no boost but turbo set in. My son has a gen I in his 2wd set up the same as mine and then a Gen II in his 4wd running a 5.5 in blinky. I have never had a Gen I have issues, the Gen II issues were user error on one and the other not sure, but it did start messing up after I got destroyed on the OCRC straight one night, so probably not the esc's fault either.
