Cannot calibrate neutral on my MT4 - VR Adjust?

I just set up a new car, and using a Castle ESC I have used plenty, and a receiver I have used plenty with my MT4 I cannot for the life of me get neutral to calibrate on my ESC. I've gone through the procedure countless times, have messed with every trim, sub-trim, EPA imaginable and it still won't work. It calibrates full throttle, brake but it just won't register neutral.
I figured it may have something to do with the VR adjust but not that either. BTW, when you do the VR adjust you go to full throttle, press the button, then to full brake.. Do you push the button when it's back in neutral or do you push the second button again when it's at full brake? The instructions aren't clear.
I've tried it both ways anyhow and it doesn't work. I have literally tried everything i can think of for hours, and I tried the same ESC set up in teh same car with two other cheapie RTR radios (a 2.4ghz Tactic and a 2.4ghz Ace radio) and they both work fine, ESC works great.
Any suggestions?

VR is used to recal the TX afterr making a physical change such as changing the steering wheel travel or the trigger position.

You don't push the button (enter) during the recal process. It is simply used to open the VR menu (step 2 on page 71) then again to choose the specific item (step 5 page 72) and lastly to confirm that the recal is done (step 7 page 72).

No idea what you're talking about, but there is no "set at zero" for the VR on this radio. You leave the trigger or wheel at neutral and press the button, then move the input to the extreme ends of it's range. Then it will prompt for saving those values.

To the OP:

Does your ESC have a deadband adjustment? If you are having trouble with just neutral, you may need to widen your deadband slightly on the ESC. This gives the ESC more play around neutral to recognize the neutral trigger position.

Thanks for all the replies guys, been a long day at work.
I tried setting the VR adjustment about a dozen times again to no avail. I also screwed up when I said it was my Castle ESC, I guess I was thinking about another project I have going but this is a Turnigy Trackstar ESC.
I tried downloading the P link software to use through the program card I have for the ESC but it doesn't work with it...
I give up, I guess I will just run this car with a crappy radio that seems to work just fine with this car...
