Question about charging Lipos...
 

I have a Dynomite Passport Ultraforce 200w charger (http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/D...ProdID=DYN4105). I noticed the other day it was only charging at 9.7A-9.8A when I had set it to 10A while charging a Turnigy 4s 5000mah 20C lipo. I was attempting to charge them at 2C. Is this normal? Is it because the battery is not of a higher quality? I have ordered 3 SPC 4s 5000mah 50c packs. I am sorry if this is a dumb question I am a former nitro just making the switch.

Probably. The way the majority of LiPo chargers work is that they ramp up the charge current until either the configured limit is reached, or the battery max voltage is reached. They then hold the current constant until the max voltage is reached. The charger then switches to constant voltage mode, and ramps the current back down until the battery is full.

So, depending on the state of the battery when you started the charge, it may never get to the 10A setting.

The 10 amps you set it at is a limit the charger will follow. As it gets feedback on the battery it will back off on things. Even more so as the pack is almost fully charged and it is just getting the balance sorted out.
