I've used Radio Shack 60/40 rosin core for years. Easy to find, and works great. Your key to success is getting a good soldering iron, and keeping the tip clean.

you want Kester 44 (63Sn/37Pb)

Hey, I was watching a youtube how to video, they suggested thin wire. It helped me get it to flow. That and a chisel tip work best for me. I use radio shack 60/40 as mentioned above.

Radio Shack sells 63/37 as well. Most important is to use electrical, not plumbing solder. Seen that mistake a few times.
Everything you need to know about soldering.

How about the (silver bearing )solder rosin core ?

Its a little silver tin called tip tinner, to be more specific. Additionally, wet sponge and the brass wire cleaner ball help immensely

I found the 60/40 radio shack solder to be to thick for my liking even know I have a 80w soldering iron . Seems like it's hard to get it to flow without a drop of flux on the wires .
One solder I really like that is cheap is stuff from amain that is thin and a 60/40 solder . Flows real nice I forgot the brand though .
