Savox HV Servos

Anyone tried the Savox HV servos? I am looking at the 2274 model, .08 seconds and 347 torque for $116, not bad for a brushless digital with those features.

I run a couple of the 2271 SG servos, and have only good things to say about them. Super fast, strong, fair price, etc...

I picked up a Bluebird HV servo for my buggy from HK....$61 for a BMS28A servo with 388 oz/in torque and .10 speed all @ 7.4V of course. Been working awesome so far.

I did some research on these servo's before buying and I found nothing but positive reviews.

Savox servos are great at the price point. Be careful if you are planning to run the servo from a esc BEC or a Spektrum radio as they are quite power hungry and weak esc BEC's and Spektrum radios struggle to keep up with them sometimes and brownouts can result. I have run Savox standard and HV servos without any issues running Tekin/Airtronics combo.

I'm not a fan of anything from HK (get what you pay for I'm afraid). Been bitten a few times and would never buy anything from them again....

Same thing here on HK, but have had some good luck on their 17.5 motors. The 2274 is a brushless motor and has very low voltage drain, so the glitching will not happen with this servo. I went ahead and ordered one to see what happens. I will be using it at 7.4 volts.

I see Ty Tessman is also using the Savox 2274 servo!!! The specs on these are right on the money for 4x4 sct. @ 7.4 volts, .08 speed and 347 torque awesome.

Finally hooked it up, and it is so nice having 347 oz. in. torque. I was using the 1258SC, but it didn't have enough torque for the DESC410R. Now it turns effortlessly. The nice thing about the RX8 is the ability to use 7.4 volts, a very powerful system. When I switched from 6 to 7.4 volts, there was a difference, much quicker. Plus having a brushless servo that uses so little power really eliminates any chance for interference. This is a best case scenario for my DX4R Pro.

I have the 2273 @7.4V in a SCTE 2.0 running a RX8 gen2, works awesome!

I am so glad I found these. You cannot get a better deal for the price. Brushless servo, 7.4 volts, .08 speed, and 347 torque at $115, not happening. It is powerful and uses a lot less power than standard servos, forget the glitch buster on these, not needed.

$61 for a HV digital coreless servo with 388 oz/in and .10 speed. Granted its not brushless but thats another debate.....

Going to try the brushless next but using an SV-1271SG now. Really like how well rounded this servo is. It can take 7.4 but the specs on 6v is still fast and very strong. Coming from an ACE 1013 (sweet servo), I wasnt downgrading at any setting with this one.

HighRevz 08-11-2014 08:37 AM

I did have a quirk with the SV-1271 once though. I plugged up and turned on and it was shaking or not finding neutral, however would still turn. This was my second time using it. I am very anal about endpoints end set them on the conservative side and run a glitchbuster along with external bec.
Anyhow, I unplugged it from the rx and plugged back in and it was fine the rest of the day. This was in my SCTE and have since moved it to my MBX7 without issue so far.

Brushless eliminates the need for a glitch buster as they use less current. My 1274 snapped a servo arm this weekend. I never realized how strong this is, till I watch it in a turn and it holds it's line without flinching. I am used to the 1258, and needed to upgrade for 4x4. I had enough speed, but needed more torque. I am running at 7.4 on it.

Here is the current draw from a 2271SG on high voltage in a stadium truck.

Does brushless eliminate the need for an external bec as well?
Besides price, are there any drawbacks to brushless?
