Default Before you buy a 1717 WARNING

FYI...I learned this the hard way and hope nobody else has to by reading this.

The CASTLE 1717 is not warrantable by Castle. Hmm....?

TRAXXAS will have to warranty it and if you didn't buy it with an XO-1, you will not have any warranty whatsoever.

So....before you buy one ask yourself, do I want a completely unwarrantable +$150 motor? Probably not, because mine just went out yesterday for no reason whatsoever and additionally $150 fell out of my pocket. I had it for two months and might have driven it ten times, all within the scope of how it is supposed to be used.

Moral of the story....weak move CASTLE, IT HAS YOUR NAME ON IT, SUPPORT IT!!!

It's normal for companies that build a product for someone else to not warranty it. They charge less for it and the company buying it takes on whatever warranty they choose to give it.

Buy a Pagani Zonda and blow the motor, AMG is NOT going to cover it.

Toyota is not going to warranty anything in your Lotus Elise.

And whatever Chinese company it is that actually makes most of our RC motors is not going to respond to you in any way if one fries on you. You have to deal with company that actually bought it for re-sale.

So in your dealings with RC items For Sale, you bought a used motor out of a X01, put it in some RC, fried it and decided to make a thread about how Castle or Traxxas doesnt want to warranty it? Wow, the nerve of those companies.
