Just bought a dx4c to replace my dx3c. I can't get it to bind to my orange receivers. Does anyone know if they are compatible? They work great with my dx3c.

I have the same problem.

The GR300 bind flawlessly with my DX4s and its v1.0 firmware, but they won't bind with my new DX4c, which is kind of disappointing.

I suspect it is either Spektrum shutting the door on its DSM2 protocol, some flaw in OrangeRX implementation of the DSM2 protocol, or the AVC ready firmware that screws up the binding process with non DSMR receivers.

The DX4c is still pretty new so very little to be found on this subject.

DX4C is DSMR not DSM2. Like the DX4R Pro, i dont believe the orange receivers worked with the DSMR system.

With the DX4C being DSMR only, the Orange and Targethobby receivers won't work, they're DSM2.

The DX4C isn't DSMR-only. It also works with SR300 and SR3500 receivers, which are DSM. It selects the appropriate type automatically during binding.

That makes it very convenient for upgrading my old DSM receivers to the new DSMR, as funds become available.

It's a bit of an "odd duck" then, using both Spektrums oldest and newest technology. Obviously to eliminate the clone/copy DSM2 receivers on the market.

Horizon doesn't say anything other than DSMR though...

The link you provided does say "The DX4C transmitter is compatible with Spektrum™ DSMR™, DSM®, DSM2®, and Marine surface receivers." But it's in the "overview" tab.

I didn't know it was backwards compatible until I read the manual. It was a pleasant surprise, and convinced me to upgrade from the DX3C rather than go to a different brand. (Yes, I'm one of those wierdos that reads the manual before buying.)

I'd also guess that Spektrum made a special effort to nuke the clone receivers. Maybe I can sell off my old receivers to the guys that now need to replace their Oranges.

Hi, I bought this radio recently and I was surprised that it can't use analog servos. I'm reserving my digital servos for competition so on normal days I use my analog ones. Does anybody know how to make this compatible with analog servos? Mine is shelved at the moment till my SR410 RX arrives.

Things I noticed compared to my MT4 and 2PL radios:
1. Takes a while for the TX to recognise the RX (SRS4210) when powering up.
2. RX doesn't like analog servos even when AVC is deactivated.
3. Weak throttle spring. How can I increase its tension?
4. Steering wheel is ball bearing supported.
5. Ergonomics is better than my current radios.
6. Battery hatch rattling.
7. Balance it good.
8. Fat/bulky at the top.
9. I like the push button power switch.
10. If you accidentally select bind... you have to rebind it again.
11. I'm confused on the latency selection-- 22ms or 11ms, I don't feel a thing.
12. AVC works as long as you mount RX real flat. Needs flat surface as well.
13. Traction control works.
14. Easy menu navigation.
15. Timer has no millisecond digits. No lap counter.

Wish I've gotten the DX4S instead. But for the price, it's an OK radio.
BTW it's my first Spektrum system. So what do I need to look out for?
Any symptoms that it's going to fail or something?
Somehow I feel less secured when using this radio.

If possible, set the frame rate to 22ms for analog servos. (I don't know if you can use the 22ms setting with the AVC receiver.) Faster frame rates can increase their loop gain to the point of causing oscillation (buzzing).

This also varies from servo to servo. I have here two supposedly identical analog servos, one of which works fine at fast frame rates, while the other does not.

Anyone happened to have dx4s firmware v1.0? Or it is only available from factory flash tx?

Right now I have two SR3100 Rx that I think are fake, but they work fine. My DX4C is V1.0. I will not upgrade it because it may make it incompatible. I bought them as genuine, and they seem to bind and hold bind, but have not used them in a car yet. Still trying to figure out if they are genuine or not. I thought all the fake ones did not work with DX4C.

The original DX4C is compatible with DSM, DSM2, and DSMR. Due to certain compliance (governmental) regulations, the latest code for the DX4C and the updated radios only operate on DSM2 16ms and DSMR. They are no longer backward compatible to the DSM and Marine protocols and the faster DSM2 protocol.

Once the other manufacturers decide to come on board with the latest regulations, you will likely see much of the same thing through the whole industry. We are the first to comply from what we are told by the testing bodies.

I work at an RC shop and sell those DX4C daily and i can confirm that the newer version does NOT work with DSM receivers.

We tried with 3 different DX4c and one SR300 and two SR301 receivers and neither would bind. Those Rx binds with DX3c just fine, but no luck with the DX4c.

So the DX4c is now compatible with DSMR and DSM2 ONLY.
