LiPo of the Future

An interesting tidbit on anode construction:

I can see that as being significant in electric and hybrid cars. It could also bring the NiMH back to RC in larger numbers. Interesting...

Ignoring for the moment the practical considerations of whether a research paper ever results in a real and affordable product. Occasionally one does of course, but the vast majority don't.

10 amp or more wall warts for phones?

Think of the power required to charge a full size electric vehicle in 10 minutes, the battery may not be the limitation then.

I remember seeing a video on TV where they coated a cd disk with a specific compound, and its able to produce electricity. I cannot remember the details, but it was powering a led.

Lipo of the future will probably be a super cap.

The latest graphene based super caps have energy density close to lead acids and can be charged or discharged in seconds with a 50,000 plus cycle life.

This method is used to produce graphene very cheaply and is the basis of the new super caps that are being developed.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but it seems the appropriate place to post. Has anyone tried the new graphene batteries? I noticed hobbyking has them in stock now. Price seems not too over the top for a new battery type. Are these things a little less volatile than lipo?

From what i read... it's a Lipo that goes forever never ending power till the LVC.

From safety cautions is still a lipo... vantage is that has a much longer life and keeps voltage strong till LVC kicks in.

Which is a dam GOOD thing for rc aplications. Almost triple the longevity.. most Rc folks just change the lipos anyway before a new tech come in to detrone this...lol

Am very interested to try one, I might bite the bullet and get one, I need another 6s pack. :tire:

I'm due for at least one new 7500 mah 2S pack. Considering trying the Turnigy Graphene ones just to see how they are.

edit: decided against it for now. Only in stock in the HobbyKing 'International Warehouse' and shipping costs are insane to get to the US. Will probably order once they get to a US Warehouse.
