motor specifications

Hello, I'm trying to learn about electric motor specifications. When comparing two motors, what specifications are important in determining a better motor (for 4x4 short course, small track). For example, would a higher rpm engine have better top speed? What about length and diameter for the motor? In other words, what specifications should I be focusing on? Thanks for any help.

P.S. Is there a guide anywhere that can summarize this stuff. Thanks.

If you are shopping for a 4x4 SC motor you need to focus on either 550 can motors or 4-Pole motors. They will be marketed as 4x4SC motors so that will help weed out some odds and ends that will not work.

Higher KV will give higher RPM. But not always better performance.

There is not really a simple chart to make this easy, for example one manufactures motor with the same KV and can size will do better than another in some cases.

Stick to tried and true.. Tekin / Trinity / Reedy / Hobbywing / Novak / etc... and you will have your best luck.
