how do i hook up cooling fan

So long story short. Stuff burned up. Bought a new momba monster 2 esc along with a spektrum dx2l controller and a spectrum sr200wp receiver. How do I hook up the cooling fan for my esc? Do I just plug it into the receiver? Because the plug doesn't work. I would have to trim the corners. Or do I have to wire it into the on off switch with some sort of inline fuse? Or do I tie into the battery wires again with an inline fuse? The RC is a traxxas e revo. I'm just running the stock 8.4 volt nimh batteries.

the plug that connects it to the board doesn't work?

Don't know. Can I plug it into the third extra plug coming out of the receiver? If I trim the plug to make it fit? I'm still getting back into the rc game and the world of brushless motors.

Depends what the voltage is of the fan? I'm expecting 5-6v and so it wouldn't be advisable to plug it directly to the batt pack. If has an RX type of connector then it's probably designed to run off the BEC voltage so trim it down and connect into the rx. Watch the polarity to ensure the fan spins in the right direction to blow air onto the esc.

However that said it would be better to plug it into the fan connection on the esc! Didn't the esc come with a fan??

The Mamba Monster 2 fan does not connect to the ESC as with the first version. Trim your plug to fit your spare receiver socket and you will be good to go.

Then you're installing it wrong. No trimming should be necessary.
It plugs into the receiver like any other servo connector.

Trimmed the plug and hooked up the fan. Can someone confirm that the fan should be spinning counter clockwise when looking down at it.

yes, CC is correct.
