All new electronics for roller!
I am new to the hobby, well actually returning after 20 some years. I have decided on a Tekno SCT410. As far as electronics I would like to start with the best I can afford so I don't have to upgrade later.
On my list is Tekin Pro4 HD 4300 coupled with the RX8 Gen2. I am still trying to pick servo I have narrowed it to Hitec-7955tg and the Savox SC-1256tg. My concern is the weight of the truck. I want power but I also want speed. As far as radio I think I want the Futaba 4PLS. I have no idea what charger or Lipo batteries to buy. Any and all input would be helpful. I am ordering the Tekno as soon as they are available which should be any day now. The electronics I will probably order over the next couple months. Thanks in advance. |
For the charger get anything with 120W+. For batteries look to SMC. Im not a fan of the Tekin HD motors. Too much torque and to make the motor useable, you need to severely limit it. Look at the regeular Pro4 motor or even the SC4X. For the servo you only need around 200oz. Having more doesn't help.

HiTec for the servo,
Pro-Match or Vant for the batteries, I-charger http://www.buddyrc.com/icharger-206b.html for the charger. |
Thanks for the input.

Any other suggestions?

The 4300kv is a great motor for the SCT410, I run the 4600kv in my SCTE and it's great for larger tracks. Durable, runs cool, smooth, and great power.
For the servo get the 7955 and be done with it. I run that in all my 1/8 scale stuff and again my SCTE and its a fast durable, accurate servo. Better power draw than the savox as well. Batteries are a little more open to personal preference. Ask 5 people and get 5 different answers. I have had great luck with the turnigy nanotech. Biggest thing is get the highest mah you can get and a decent punch (40c+). For the charger, get the icharger. Awesome charger. |
I would go with the Savox 1256SG instead... only about $10 more and your Gen2 can run a 7.4v BEC which will make that servo wicked fast and a lot stronger.

It seems as though I have run out of money...lol. If you could only afford Viper, Hobbywing, Castle or another motor/esc under $150.00 What would you choose?
