Over heated kill shot maxzilla
Rev tech kill shot maxzilla 13.5 blinky. Was running this on sat geared 24/81 on my desc210 and was coming off track after 5 min runs and was at 120f bumped up to 25 and over heated. About 210 motor is brand new. What now? Not sure what to do. Shoulda got a d3.5
|
Smoked?
if not gear it back down a couple of teeth & do some testing 2min, 3min, 5min. A new rotor isn't terribly expensive. Where is the timing set at? |
if it is still functional, then there is no problem.
|
It kinda seemed like it never has enough power to begin with. Like my fuze 13.5 was jut as fast. Not even close to my friends d3.5 both are ht models. Should be comparable atleast
|
I only bumped it up one tooth kinda crazy it jumped 80 degrees I even turned timing down to 5 from 20 on the can. Freaks me out like I got a defective motor or something

Maybe your mesh was too tight when you put the new pinion on.
|
I triple checked everything. Idk maybe this motor isn't what it's cracked out to be. I ran 78/24 gearing with my cheap fuze motor and it ran at 130 after ten mins. Seems like a high dollar ht motor would be able to handle higher gearing.
|
You can't base one motors gearing and results on another. If you changed motors you need to start all over with your temp readings.
The "I blew up X 13.5 motor from running my Y 13.5 gearing" doesn't help your case. New motor, you start all over. That said, a 1 tooth pinion change isn't going to result in an additional 80 deg.:weird: |
Not familiar with the timing setup on that motor, but dropping the timing a bunch could have contributed. The motors like some timing advance, especially higher turns like 13.5-17.5, too little can sap performance and in some cases from what I understand cause excessive heat.
If you want to regain the performance try a new rotor. Excessive heat speeds up the demagnetizing of the rotor. |
Ok I'll try and gear back down and add timing. I was told these motors don't like timing over 30? Anyone ever her that?
|
Anyone wanna buy a maxzilla? Still works!

I geared it down to 23/81 starting over temps good got timing all the way to 35 no problems but how do I know when to stop going up on timing and go up in pinion instead.
