Default Airtronics receivers: FH4T vs FHSS-4?

Pardon my potentially stupid question... I'm going to be picking up an MT-4S soon and it comes with the top-of-the-line RX-472 receiver which operates on FH4T. However, since I have more than one car, I'm going to want a second receiver. What I'm confused about is FH4T vs FHSS-4, are they the same thing? Specifically, I'm trying to figure out which receivers I can get which might cost a bit less but still retain the high frequency and low latency of the RX-472 (I'm potentially ok with no telemetry). For instance, do the RX-462, RX-471 and RX-461 offer the same performance?

Any help/clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

In principle FH4T is the same as FHSS-4. The 'T' just means it can carry a telemetry signal as well. The Rx-472 and Rx-471 are both FHSS-4 receivers. The Rx-462 is really an Rx to use if you want to use telemetry.

I use a combination of Rx-471 and Rx-451R receivers with my Exzes Z (which is the stick version of the M12). The 451 is an FHSS-3 Rx which is a little bit cheaper than the 471/472 but feels exactly the same while driving. The 451 is a bit of a larger footprint than the 471/472 but not by very much. I don't bother with the 461/462 Rx's as I've no interest in telemetry and feel its usefulness is limited.

Hope that helps? Enjoy the Sanwa radio they are absolutely awesome!

Ok since this was brought up I have a question. I will be switching to the m12 radio from spektrum. The m-12 comes with a Rx-471 fhss-4 receiver and I was looking at some fhss-2 receivers. Will I able to tell the difference in speed and latency between the two receivers???? Thanks

Not really to be honest. I have some FHSS-2 receivers as well and they do feel different and respond differently than the later receivers. I only use the 2's in my bashers and a baja 5b I have. All my racers stick to FHSS 3's and primarily 4's.

Airtronics 92524, basic no tele 2 channel, small, affordable, works great. Only $50. Noticeable difference? not really. Which one you use depends on the application, how picky you are, and your budget.

Thank you for the responses. I already have a 4PL with a bunch of receivers, I'm looking at the MT-4S for improved latency and performance. So, for my use case, FHSS-4/FH-4 is the way to go.

Actually, the fh4t is on fhss3 with telemetry.

Don't worry about latency times. I've compared and driven fhss2 and fhss3 receivers on the same car with the same radio and couldnt tell a difference.

Ummm no it isn't!! FH4T is FHSS-4 with telemetry. NOT FHSS-3!!

I have some follow-up questions. How do these 4 compare in terms of telemetry with the M12 or MT-4S?

* 471 - zero latency, no telemetry
* 472 - zero latency, telemetry but only with the Super Vortex ZERO ESC?
* 461 - zero latency, telemetry with add-on modules
* 462 - zero latency, main battery voltage hookup, other telemetry... how?

The descriptions are pretty confusing.

The 472 receiver actually have built in receiver battery voltage telemetry.

It works with any ESC's, and is built in and works "out of the box", with no extras needed.

Can you hook up a temperature sensor on a nitro car with the telemetry on the M12? If so what receiver do I need to do that?

okay, this is what I'm wanting to know myself. I have brand-new Airtronics M12, it came with RX-471. I also have purchased several RX-471, RX-471W, RX-371W.

I am a serious rc boat racer (nitro). Was hoping to play around with monitoring Rx battery voltage, engine temp, and engine RPM. Which receiver would provide this level of telemetry function?
