Yes the latency is higher in the mx-v, but it uses fhss2 receivers and it's not that slow. It feels like an m11x in that respect, which people still feel is an excellent radio.
Considering this person is currently using a Traxxas rtr remote, I think they will be extremely happy with the "Toyota" An mx-v using fhss2 as fast as an m11x? Not in my databook. The mt-4 using the fastest receiver is as fast as the m11x. Don't know the exact numbers for the mx-v, but that with a fhss2 receiver is far from m11x (and mt-4 for that matter). I went from a mx3-x to a m11x and could clearly feel the higher latency. Kept turning into corners too early. And the mx3-x was the fastest midrange radio when it was the current model. If there were no significant gain in lower latency times, for many there would be no point in upgrading to a higher end radio. The features are already too many on the lower priced radios for normal 1/8 scale use. But it seems that development in technology now offers extremely low latency in mid range radios also, like the new mt-4s. 2ms compared to under 1ms in the m12. That would be an unnoticable difference for most of us. |
The new ones have a back light? Damn i wish mine did.
Someone at my track modded his to have a back light. I'm gonna do this (and I get to pick the color), because wiring lights is very easy to do. I have extra colored LEDs laying around from my scx10s lol |
Latency is the same with an m11x if using the same fhss2 receiver. I should have explained that a bit better. An m11x, mt4, or m12 with the newest receivers is obviously much faster.

Looking for advice here as well. About the pull the trigger on one of these, but can't make up my mind. I'd call my skill level intermediate. I'm a weekend racer. I want a new radio to use in my B5M (that I've had on order since Jan). What should I do?
MT-4 = $187.49 shipped (from Amain after coupon). MX-V = $99.99 shipped (from Amain, let me know if there's somewhere cheaper). So, is the extra $87 worth it to someone like me? The only telemetry item I'd use would be motor temp. |

You can get the mx-v on ebay for $79 and free shipping. I think thats what I am going to get. My cousin just got himself and his daughter 4pls's and I just dont like the trigger. I dont have fat fingers by any stretch and the trigger area is too small for me. I was thinking about possibly doing the 3pmx but for the price the reviews on the mx-v has me thinking its just as good as anything else for the occasional racer

ok so i had the m11 with the airtronics module and i needed a new reciever. recievers are 60 bucks and i won a mx-v for 70 shipped. i figured what the heck for 10 more bucks have a spare radio.
well when it came in and i actually used it. i put down my m11 and started using the mx-v for all my racing. so much lighter and feels better in my hands. i threw in a 2s lipo in the mx-v and have been using it for a few months. sure it does not look as fancy but does the job better. only thing i really dont like the lack of backlight with the mx-v. also im not sure why but mine came with a black wheel that i like the look of much better than the white ones most of them come with. |
spend the extra money
the radio is one of the most important investments you can make |

Thanks. I still can't decide. I'm in a place in my life where I "can" afford whatever, but I'm still stingy on some things unless there's a clear advantage. Hmm...

I am kinda in the same delima. Not super sure I am going to stay in the hobby that long. I mean my cousin and I raced for around 15 years when we were younger. I have a son that I just got a slash for. I am figuring I will get this radio and then if I decided I am going to stay in it again for a long run buy the mt-4 or even a m12. Then I will just give him the mx-v. For $70 bucks it seems like an ok investment.

Pulled the trigger on the V.

Hi, one dilemma in front of me - starting to participate in Formula racing and some off-road (1:14) I purchased MX-V. Now I get encouraged to upgrade to MT4 - and there is local used unit ~150$, with new one 220 USD and new MT-4S for 240$. I have a decent servo (Savox) and Cheetach 17.T combo in my Yokomo YRF001. I could maybe get 60-70$ for the MX-V on resale. Is it worth to upgrade?

I'm going back & forth on these two radios also. I don't understand why the MT-4 went up in price? This time last year it was $199.99 and its older and the price goes up? Is that good of a radio?
Also, did I hear someone say the MT-4 now has a backlight? Again... it went up in price, is this why? If not still confused on pricing. I have a really bad spot in my neighborhood with glitches and I've had issues at the track with glitches using FlySky and the cheap China radios. So I'm ready for a good radio. |
MT-4S comes with backlight and some minot improvements, but it is more expensive. According to sellers in Poland MT-4 is discontinued - maybe that is the reason for the price.
