Spektrum vs Airtronics

I have been running spektrum for the past 3 years that i have been in rc. I have started racing a few months ago and people are telling me that spektrum radios have slow response times and glitch a lot and that i would drive better with a faster radio are Airtronics remotes any better or any other manufacturer?
Thanks

don't know about slower (compared to other radios in the same price range) but they can be glitchier.

Depends on which Spektrum radio and receiver you have. The 1st generation DSM was a little slower, the later R models with DSM2 are much better. The current Airtronics, Futaba, and KO systems are very good.

I'm running the old DSM and a DX3e as for receiver a SR300. But is a airtronics remote a better remote?
Also i have read about airtronics SSR system on the forums and people said that you have to be running a SSR compatible servo take be able to take advantage of it, is a savox compatible?

Airtronics is the better radio IMHO. I don't know why it wouldn't be compatible with savox. They would loose a bunch of customers if it wasent.

SSR mode gives a response time of less than 1 milisecond, but this can only be achieved by using (pricy!) SRG servos.
For digital servos, such as a non SRG Sanwa, or a Savox you can use SHR, which is still so responsive that some people use settings to make it feel slower.

You can use Savox servos, and a lot of people do.

Airtronics/Sanwa is a far better radio in my opinion. I had Spektrum for a while and had nothing but problems with glitches and brown outs etc. I moved over to Sanwa a couple of years ago and never looked back. Most of the local guys have done the same, either changed to Airtronics/Sanwa or Futaba - one thing is consistent is that Spektrum are in the minority here now.

I just bought a DX4R because you can switch to L/H. How many radios offer this? It is also backwards compatible, so I can use my older rx's.

Yea man not being bias but from owning both Airtronics is better all around very responsive even the cheaper models. Not to mention you can run any servo without a cap.

A lot people still run Specktrum for one reason and thats the cheaper receivers although you can get Sport RX from Airtronics and others for less than $100 .

higher end futaba and airtronics can do this. I'm pretty sure that KO propo's high end can do it too. Not sure on radiopost, Maybe it can?

The spektrum glitches rear up as a fault most often when paired to an ESC with a weak BEC and/or a servo that is power hungry.

Often that is cured by just dropping a glitch buster cap in there or with an external BEC in more extreme cases.

Most other brands like Airtronics simply do not suffer with this.
