What happens when your BEC stops working?
I'm trying to determine what has stopped working on my Brushless Losi. I have Tekin RX8, Airtronics MT-4, Hitec 5755 servo. Initially steering started cutting in and out and then stopped completely. I thought the servo failed, but a new servo didn't work either. So, I replaced the RX, thinking it failed. But new RX, same problem.
So, now the only possibilities left are either the BEC went bad in the RX8 or the steering on the MT-4 failed, any idea? Is it common for the BEC to burn out? I hate to buy a new transmitter or ESC only to find out it was the other. thx |
It is common for the BEC to go out on the RX8. It has happened to me, co-racers and it is all over this site.

Esc failure for sure. The esc supplies the reciever with power via the bec circuit. And with no bec, the reciever will not have power to receive a signal or power the servo.

That's why tekin offers a trade in program. Lol

^that, or run an external bec.

Thx guys for the help, the thing is I have power to the RX and the throttle works fine. That why it seems like everything points to the MT-4, but I have never had a transmitter fail, let alone just the steering portion and everthing else work fine.

Try swapping the servo leads at the receiver to help isolate the issue (hang on to the car!), or steering to a Aux/3rd channel, etc.
Not common, but it's possible there is a problem with the steering pot on the radio or something related. |
