Losi Xcelorin not programming

Just purchased this Losi Xcelorin ESC (LOSB9500) with a 17.5 Losi Xcelorin motor and am having no luck getting it to program. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Installed and wired motor as per the directions found on the Losi web site.
A=Blue
B=Yellow
C=Orange
(see attached photos)

Attempted to initialize ESC as per instruction:
While pressing SET button turn on ESC - OK

Yellow LED will flash then go solid, release SET button - OK

Apply full throttle till LED is solid green - OK

Apply full Brake till LED is solid red - OK

Return to neutral till LED turns blue - OK
(the motor made a small noise at this point which I assume is normal)

Turn off ESC to save program, turn ESC back on to operate - UH NOPE

When I turn the ESC back on it starts flashing all LEDs and has no throttle response. I tried the whole sequence several times with the same result. Any ideas, am I missing something here? Would appreciate some advice here.

Thanks

Make sure all epa's are at 100 and your throttle trim is centered.

Yep, stay that way for all my ESCs, but thanks

You must connect the sensor cable :nod: :nod: !!!

yep, I think those losi motors don't run without the sensor input cable connected.

Just talked to the seller, he suspected the same. Guess it's off to the LHS to get a sensor wire.

I thought the sensors made them more efficient but not required to run. Another notch on the learning pole I guess. Is it particularly the Losi units or others / all sensored systems. Thought read on a site somewhere that it was OK to run without the sensor wires.

usually motors run without the sensor wire, but that motor, and some of the novak motors seem not to run without it plugged in.

actually, running without the sensor wire is more efficient.

Well, a 30 Mile one way trip to the LHS (Hobby Town) was a waste of time and gas money and the next closest is about seventy miles.

They didn't have or stock a sensor wire and can't order one because they have been discontinued. The link hardware required to download/install the newest firmware has also been discontinued. Apparently the whole 1/10 Xcelorin line has been discontinued and only the 1/36 stuff is still available but soon to be discontinued as well.

I would really appreciate it if somebody has an extra laying around, and I suppose I will need the Program Card and Link Hardware too. Off to make a post in the Want Ads.

Sensor cables are standard, just get the correct length. I,am pretty sure that esc is a dynamite esc.

I asked that at the LHS and they thought perhaps that was the case but weren't 100% sure. Turns out they don't stock any: Said that any sensored ESC or motor or combo that you buy includes the wire and nobody has ever asked to buy a spare. They offered to order one but I figured I can do that myself and get it quicker and save the 60 mile trip. Seems the seller may have found the original for it and is sending it to me shortly, so that should solve the immediate problem but I sure would like to find the programming card and the PC link to make any required adjustments for my setup.
