How about this?
I need a system to alternate and switch out among my losi lst, my savage, and my hyper 7. Is this good? Anybody have experience with these or heard anything bad/good about them? I want a 1/8 scale system but $280 for a castle mamba monster seems like a LOT! Thanks!

I just noticed that you can get a mm2 for $240 including shipping now.
So should I get the trackstar 120a 2300kv or the mm2 2200kv? Is the castle name worth the extra $130? (also on the trackstar you can only run 4s, I know, no big deal to me that's all I'd run anyway so ignore that) |
I'm leery of cheap HobbyKing products for which a review on HK's own site includes the phrase, "burst into flames." As well, in general with HK, you can expect no warranty or other post-sale service on that.
However, if you're willing to treat it as a use it-toss it if something goes wrong product, you could wind up with a bargain. But before buying that, I would recommend taking a look at HobbyWing's combos for something that will probably be a little more robust product but with some savings still over the Castle stuff. |
I've run the 150amp hk esc and while not bad it wasn't as durable as my castle/hobbywing/tekin gear.
I would strongly recommend a hobbywing esc of some sort either http://www.falconsekido.com/products/ezrun-150a-sl or http://www.falconsekido.com/products/xerun-150a-sd and then pick your motor. I have heard alot of good response about the tenshock motors. |
Alright, I'll take a look at that stuff

Track Star motors are great. The TS 150A ESC I bought last November(2012) is actually still working today. When things catch on fire, the end user is usually to blame. I would have bought the new TS 150a, but couldn't wait for shipping from Hong Kong.
The thing about reviews of HobbyKing gear is that usually, the people that buy it are new to the hobby, and really don't know what they are doing. So they are the first people to destroy something, and immediately blame it on the product. All of the HobbyKing gear we run is good, and has lasted plenty of time. Hextronix probably makes items for the majority of companies that charge way more for the same product. HW stuff is great too, though. And if you are just running 4 cell, the SCT pro or SC8 are good ESCs. But don't hesitate to get any of the TS stuff. My experience has generally been good. |
Thanks billyt

My eyes glazed over the SCT part of the earlier post. I think it'll be still workable on 4s though if you keep an eye on temps.

You can find you want in Aliexpress Funshobby Store.

I would put velcro under that MMP. Castle ESCs are sensitive to hard landings in my experience. Velcro it and wrap a zip tie around it and you will be fine.
