LiPo battery wire split, throw?
Hi all.
My 5200mah 2S LiPo has got a nice cut from something in the red wire, As soon as I saw this I removed it from the car, into a LiPo bag and stored it along way away  ( Since it was cut, it doesn't work, but if I move it around, it will work again ) Is there anyway to fix this? Possibly discharge the battery, and re-solder it? PS: I hate deans connectors, I'm getting the shits with how hard they are to seperate! |
I'm with ya on the deans!! I'm one of the rare people who hate them. Yes, you can can solder a new wire on. I haven't done one personally, but many people have been successful in doing it.

If the wire is completely separated in two, you can just solder the two pieces together. If you want different connectors just solder new ones on, something like ec5s
To avoid shorting, do one side while the other is wrapped un tape. |
It's not cut all the way through, it's just a neat slice with the silver internal wires showing, which makes me crap myself.
I'll quick chop it off so it can't short out, and leave the other side wrapped up. I have a couple other plugs here, I might use one of them, is it hard to change the plug on the ESC? just cut and solder that to? |
That's it...cut and solder
|
Brilliant, I shall jump onto HobbyKing and order some plugs, thankyou for you're help guys :)

Rock on man!!

Well it turns out soldering big fat battery wires isn't as easy as the little ones. Everytime I think I have a good solder, I heatshrink them up, connect to charger.
Connection break, beep beep beep beep!!! Arrgghhh! |
I hope you're using at least a 60w soldering iron or better yet, soldering station

I have a soldering station :) I just suck at it extremely bad. Wished I could rescue my battery, it's a good new one!!!!! |
I had a read through the soldering thread ( Changed my soldering tip to a flat one, not a pointer one helped alot )
Watched a few videos on how to solder fat wires, and It's working! Plugged it into charger and away it goes, no faults/errors. Not sure how it's going to go fitting into my Savage now the wires are a little stiffer, it might end up breaking the connection cause they have to bend to fit in. |
