Transmitter and receiver compatability

Hi, this may come across as a totally stupid *ss question, but are transmitters compatible with receivers from other countries? By that question I mean, if I was to buy a spektrum dx3 transmitter here in Australia, would a spektrum receiver from America be compatible with it?

Assuming they both run at the same frequency and support the same protocol they should be fine. For example a 72Mhz RX won't work with a 2.4Ghz TX

Yeah I just heard rumours that you can only use transmitters and receivers from your own country.

There are some restrictions in some countries on the dragonlink type long range air radios that run at 433Mhz, as not all countries allow unlicensed use of the 433Mhz space. In a lot of cases you need a HAM license. For 2.4Ghz stuff it should all just work, again assuming they both support the same protocol.
