I'm running a Speed Passion 7.5r motor geared at 19/98 in my Aero 4wd. The motor seems to run a little hot. I am not running any boost or turbo and motor timing is stock. Is there any other setting to play with in the rsx that I could adjust to maybe get the temps down a little other than a fan. I have holes cut in the body for cooling. thanks

What do you consider a little hot?

Its a belt drive car so there is some drag compared to a shaft drive. temp is around 175 -180

What is the final drive ratio? You need the transmissions internal gear ratio to calculate final drive. On my xb4 I run an RSX and trinity 6.5 with a FD ratio of 10.66. I dont have any issues with motor or esc temp and no fans. To calculate FD ratio
(Spur/Pinion)x(internal ratio)
First make sure that your spur pinion mesh is not to tight. Then I might go through and look for bearings that are shot. It should still roll pretty freely even though it is belt driven. You might want to make sure your belts are not to tight.
Something has to be causing a excess load on the motor to get it that hot. I usually find that if the motor is hot it is either geared to tall or something is causing drag in the drive line.
If boost and turbo are turned off you should see the esc blinking two lights in this mode then it probably isnt the ESC. I would check timing on the motor its self. 180 is getting up there so you defiantly want to do something about it.
If you have a hotwire it is really easy to plug it into your computer to verify the turbo and boost setting.

question regarding the fan -
I recently moved my RSX into a new 4wd buggy, all of a sudden I noticed the fan is not working. I ordered new fans and still nothing (tried both new ones). I have the setting on "always on" i'm able to connect the hotwire so the connection is good.
Any ideas what's going on here?

^^ yes

Next suggestion I would have is to check voltage of fan power port in a "always on" setting with a digital multi-meter.

Hi All,
I have just changed my motor on my X-ray 4WD bugger to a Orion 4.5t running with a tekin Rsx - I have lowered the boost / stock motor timing and I have already blown up 1 capacitor , I installed another and after a 5min run I noticed it discoloured and got really hot .. It ran fine for another 2 heats and the final but why would this be doing this ?
Someone said I should install a second cap to the ESC .. Any advice ?
Thanks
Mike

"wrong motor type" error is all i still get, everything is good connected and programmed correctly.
anything i can try? already used different motor and sensor wire, no help.
it has v250 on it.
