Power supply question

Maybe a dumb question but what are they for, been seeing allot for sale. Does it help your charger or what.

Also not sure if it matters but I use the hitec 4 bank charger and all I charge are 4 cell lipos 5000mah

It takes alternating current and converts it into direct current for charging batterys, or in other cases, running electronics.
