Balancing Lipo

I have a balance charger that has the lcd screen. When I charge the batteries I charge them at 5.0 amps (5000 mah battery). Would I also BALANCE the batteries at 5.0 amps?

What charger?

Dave H 09-20-2013 06:34 PM

No charger I'm aware of balances at 5 amps. Just balance charge, no need to balance separately. Can even be counter productive.

Dave is right. I simply asked what charger so I would know exactly what I was referring to. Not that it's why you're asking but the only time balance charging really takes longer is if your cells are way off. My Hyperion is always done balancing my packs within the first minute or two.

I am using the traxxas ez peak plus with the lcd

Just balance charge it then like Dave H. said. There's no real reason not to balance charge.

Well my traxxas charger has a "Balance Charge" setting and you can adjust the amount of AMPS on it.

Just use the Balance Charge mode. Hook up both the large wires and the balance connector, the charger will take care of everything.

FYI, any balancing required will be limited to 300mA (0.3 amp) per cell. The little balance wires and the higher voltage precision balancing circuits in the charger have limited current capability. Seriously doubt if that charger has anyway to adjust this, not something to worry about much.
