Strange issue with LiPo TX battery

So, I have an Airtronics M11 with the Spektrum module in it. Three or Four years ago I got a 3S LiPo pack to replace the 8AA cartridge. It's bee working great for all this time. Until yesterday at the race track. I was dealing with several runaways with two different cars and I'm assuming that it's linked to the transmitter.

Initially I figured the battery was low (transmitter read 9.2V) so I tried charging it. 3 times in a row it would charge for about a minute before the charger said "OPEN" meaning the battery disconnected. Eventually it stayed charging long enough to get up to about 12V and I threw it back in the transmitter. It was still misbehaving intermittently, though and I missed 2 out of my 6 races due to my loss of signal.

Once I got it home I figured I would discharge it to 3V/cell (total of 9V) and then charge it fully and see how much capacity it put in. It discharges to 9V in a matter of 30 seconds and then charges "fully" in about a couple minutes. Is it just time to replace the pack? All the cells still read about 3.8V when balancing. Should I try a LiFe pack? Should I just switch back to AA cells even though I hate the extra weight? Can I somehow "save" this battery even though I can't properly discharge OR charge it?

Its time to replace. Proteks are pretty cheap now. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...k-111V-2300mAh
