Steering servo problem.
 

Hello,

I just got my first RC asembly set and after putting it together i experienced this: The steering servo works not smooth, when i turn to left it does not center back, only after 10 seconds of making weird sounds it returns, the other side does work fine. After a while when turning left it centers like i said above and then just turns back to left without me doing anything on the remote.

At this point i have no controll over it anymore and steering on my remote does nothing anymore. I have tried to put the steering servo in another channel and it just does the same. Charged the battery but still the same result. Took a new battery (and here is the strange part) out of the box and then it does not lock up. It still does not return tho.

I am thinking the remote, reciever and maybe the servo is broken (those where sold in a set together but did not came with the car) but as a beginner i wanted to make sure it is this and ask you all with some more knowledge on RC's.

Tamiya 1:10 on-road VW Scirocco GT24 4WD TT-01 type ES R2R 2.4 GHz

T2M 2.4GHz Racer 2.4S remote + reciever

T2M TS 222 Steering servo.

Team Orion 3300 NiMH 7.2V battery

Only way to know for sure is to try an eliminate the problem part, if you know anyone else into rc try hooking up a different known working servo and go from there

Well i am kinda new to this so i do not know anymone who has one but i will join a small club soon that does some races together. A friend of mine did order a RC Cars aswell and a remote/reciever/servo set. The set is not the same tho so when it arrives i will try that set on my RC Car and then replace each part and work my way down to the part that is giving me troubles.

It sounds like you might just have a bad servo. Try replacing the servo and if the problem still persist then I would say it would be the Radio system

I just wanted to let you know the problem is fixed. The person i knew had his order arive a few day's later and he let me try the brand new servo he got with it. Problems where gone as soon as i replaced that part. Glad to know i only need to swap out the servo now. My brother will drive with it most off the time because he is planning to join a club etc. i am more the one fixing it and driving it for fun. So still a bit new to this.

At the moment i am still looking what a good servo would be to buy. I heard some are hard to zero in, and even when the switch is on neutal on the remote the horn won't be 100% vertical.

If you intend on staying in the hobby then consider this. Good electronics are an investment. You can move them from car to car for years and years. I still have 20-30year old servos that work great.

Oh yeah i am planning to stay in the Hobby. But this was my first car that i have bought to asemble myself. The remote, servo etc... was with it in a kit for "starters" (not the same brand tho). But i am looking into some higher grade parts for this. Thanks or the advice!
