Glitching caused by incorrect throttle endpoints?

System:
ESC: MMP
Motor: Reedy Sonic 7.5t
Servo: Hitec 985
Receiver: Spektrum 3001T & OrangeRX G300

Cliff Notes Version: I was glitching before setting the throttle endpoints and not glitching after setting the endpoints. Does this make sense or is something else going on?

Hi all, I built up a new SC10.2 and have been having some intermittent glitching/brown out issues. When I first built the truck I had the Spektrum 3001T receiver in it. The first day at the track I ran 1 pack through it and the truck performed great with no issues. The next day as soon as I got on the track it started to cut out with the steering returning to the center point like someone was flipping the switch on and off. This was occuring at full throttle on the straights, powering out of a corner was fine. At this time the truck would cut out on every single straight. Once the truck even died completely and required a marshall to disconnect the battery and reset the truck. I couldn't find anything wrong so swapped out the Rx to the Orange G300 after seeing some issues with the Spektrum Rx.

I went out to practice again last night and it would still glitch althought not as often, a couple times every few minutes, not nearly as often as the last time. I tried a couple different batteries to ensure it wasn't the batt and they all had the same issue. Eventually, the truck just died. I had no lights on the ESC, flipping the power switch didn't help, and neither did disconnecting the battery and trying another batt. A couple minutes later it started up fine and everything seems okay.

Since all the parts were new I decided to go through the setup to ensure I didn't miss a step. Well, I realized that I forgot to set the throttle endpoints. After setting the endpoints I didn't have any issues the rest of the night. I'm just getting into the hobby so am still learning how to troubleshoot these systems. Does setting the endpoints seem like it would have fixed the issue? Or is something else going on that I should look at?

Sounds like you need a glitch buster capacitor for the receiver.

I agree, a cap is a must with the HITEC I use a HITEC 7955 and it makes my castle esc go crazy, it will go in reverse by itself or when I am running and I turn I loose power until I released the steering, a cap fixed it:)

Yeah with the savox servos, my car would lose power whenever I'd be on throttle and have to use my steering. When I added a cap, everything worked perfectly.

When you push the end points if either your throttle/brake or steering it can cause a voltage spike, this can have a few different effects - like a glitch.

Spektrum RX + Castle ESC = Glitch City

+1 for the glitch buster capacitor

Update from this weekend: I changed the endpoints and didn't have any issues in practice. To be on the safe side for the race I went ahead and added a glitch buster. No issues at all. Thanks all for the suggestions.

Glad for ya;)
