1/10 steering servo

Gday all,

I recently bought a TA06 and I am trying to decide on a servo. I am looking at Futaba in particular because they are compatible with the Tamiya kit parts, but not sure whether to go standard analog(S3003), brushless, digital, high torque or high speed. rrrrr! too much options.

What do I do? and as far as price goes there's a big jump from the standard Futaba S3003 of around 15 bucks and then up to about 100 bucks for the other higher end stuff. Not sure how much I should be spending?

Suggestions appreciated. Cheers

For a touring car like yours, high torque is unnecessary. Will you be racing the car in a course? I try to not spend less than $25-30US even for a cheap 'basher'. Brushless servos give better runtimes due to efficiency, and more power, but it really isn't worth the jump in price IMO unless you will be racing the car. If you can swing it, at least go digital high speed.

Thanks mate, I have a better idea now and yes I do plan on racing it, now I just gotta decide on digital or brushless, more likely digital because they are cheaper than brushless I believe.

The more grip and the faster the class, the more torque/holding power you want. So on a well prepped track running mod, def get a nice stronger high speed servo. For something like vta at a parking lot course, the mid-high range analog would suffice. If you can swing the brushless, go for it. Especially if other racers at the local track run them. It'll give a slight edge over the digitals.

Hi tech and savox is all I have seen most tc racers using:)

For futaba, I'd look for servos along these specs

Now, these look good on paper, but I'd look over some reviews as well before buying.
I'm used to other companies' terminology on high torque/high speed so didn't expect these to be labeled for torque but the specs look good for a tc.

Then to be honest you haven't been around long enough or need to get out more, because Futaba has been a dominant player in the servo market for decades.
