servo stiff only one direction

Hi there,

Was using my SC10 today with my Savox SC1251mg servo in it. All was ok, then all of a sudden it either wouldn't want to turn left and wouldnt want to centre itself from right.
Upon removing the servo from the sc10 and cutting the power I found I was able to move the horn by hand one direction without any resistance (no more than normal), but if I move the horn the other direction there is resistance there.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Thanks :)

Matt.

ps: The ground was a bit moist, but there was no water at all under my chassis overtray. No moisture at all on any electrical components save for the motor. I disconnected the steering, it is free with no binding. The problem IS in the servo. I'd justg like to know what I might expect to find if I did brave opening it up.

It's blown. Time to replace

Take it apart and have a look. More than likely it's done. Going by the specs, 125oz. is a bit on the weak side for an offroad truck.

What should I be looking for inside? It doesn't feel like teeth are missing. Motor just worn out maybe?

Run the servo with all the gears disconnected from it. That will isolate it if it's the motor itself causing the problem. If the motor runs fine, then there's something up with the gears.

Pulled it apart. Can't seem to work it out. The servo motor feels fine to move in each direction by hand (tiny little gear on top). Everything feels fine until I add the last gear, at which time it feels stiff to move in the single direction. The gears themselves look 100%.

Motor issue, looks like.

Canned it. Second savox servo of mine to die in the last month. Won't buy another. Both were used with fairly loose stock servo savers and at 6v or less. Shame, because it felt great on the track.

I have had the Savox 1258-TG in all of my cars for months and never have had a problem. Give that one a try.
