TROUBLESHOOT HELP:
I bought a buggy from a buddy with the RX8 and Tekin 1900kv motor. The car hasn't been used for 7 months now and it was a super dialed car all season.
Anyway, I test ran the car but it slowed after a few minutes. Figured my battery had not gotten a complete charge. Charged it up and verified all 4 cells were balanced, and they were. They were only .009 volts difference. Tried again with same result. So on to elimination:
Factory reset & recalibrated radio.
Changed sensor wire. Recal the radio.
Swapped motor for my Tekin 1900. Recal the radio
Swapped my older RX8 in. Recal the radio.
Factory reset on my RX8 & recal the radio.
I have not tried different brand of batteries. Mine might be bad from sitting for two years. But they seem fine according to the Hyperion 0615i charger. I charged up two 4s starter box batteries that sat for 3 seasons and they held a near perfect balance also just like the 4s I'm using for this E-buggy.
So with all that in mind. What should I troubleshoot next?

I didn't realize this was the Gen2 thread.
When I get the battery on the charger all 4 cells show within .001 volts of each other. After a few minutes of charge they are within .008 volts. So they are showing near same voltage for all cells.
The batteries are only taking between 450-1,100 mah each time I charge.
I just tried a discharge-charge cycle. Discharged at 5 amps and charged at 10 amps. Same results. Drives like a bat out of hell for 3 minutes then slows down to about half speed at full throttle.
At the end of the week I have a friend who I will borrow a couple batteries from to test. It's gotta be a bad cell.

The guys are all correct though, clear your data logger memory and then go run the car. You'll see the battery voltage drop below LVC if it's a bad pack.

Yea Randy, I checked quite often during the discharge cycle. There was a larger spread than I expected at .120 difference with cell 3 being the lowest and cell 4 the highest. Average difference of .096 volts.
I'm not sure if 5 amps is a heavy enough draw to really load the battery. I assume the vehicle load is much higher. So those differences are probably higher at higher loads.
Thanx for the discussion guys. I will see what I can find out.

5 amp discharge will not find a dead cell, 20-30 amp load is what you need to see which cell drops off. I charger 4010 or power lab 6 or 8 will be able to do that. 1/8e pulls some serious amps and can quickly get to the backside of a bad cell in a pack.

Hello all!
Just picked up a d413 4wd buggy. I have an rx8 gen 2 hanging around and was thinking about putting it in with either a novak 8.5 or with the 4600 kv 4 pole tekin motor. Thoughts/advice?

There is a huge weight difference and I'm not sure chopping the top off will do much (76g/42g)
It will handle anything short of a 1/5 motor but you'd have to add a ton of lead tape to the opposite side to balance the chassis out and then you'd have a heavy pig that over powers the suspension and forget about copying someone's tune.
You'd definitely have the power to overcome the weight but it would drive like a pig.
That being said, if you can fit it under the body without hacking up a $200 esc and you have it in your pit box... won't hurt to try

I'm sure it can be done. But as the others mentioned it will throw off the left to right weight most likely unless you go Pro2 which may help.
