My setup is the RX8 Gen 2, Pro4 HD 4300, Savox 1256, Spektrum DX3S, and Spektrum SR300 receiver. My brother has the exact same setup and tx/rx. His doesn't have this problem. I tried using his tx/rx and the same thing happens. So I ruled out the tx/rx. I'm going to see if it's the sensor wire tomorrow. Any other suggestions?

Recalibrate your esc endpoints with your transmitter. Make sure all endpoints/dual rates are maxed.

Have you set your neutral width to a lower value like 5 or 10? Not sure what the default value is on the gen2 but the gen1 was like half way up the bar in hotwire.

Would there be any benefit to using an external cap such as the TT3552 to prevent power ripples into RX8. I assume this one would be good for anything 6S, but I also see lower voltage ones as I look around. I am not talking about a glitch buster for the radio, but a big power cap to smooth out the power to the RX8 itself.

The RX8 has a bank of capacitors built inside the case, so any external additions would produce marginal benefits.

what could be the possible causes of a gen2 not wanting to calibrate properly?

it will enter the calibration with the beeps then before it will recognize neutral it will exit the calibration mode and blink the 1-3 lights over and over.

I have tried a new model on the radio, both nor/rev channels on the throttle, different rx's different battery. am i missing something?

If you apply throttle or brakes, will the flashing lights switch from 1-3 to 5-7?

Is your neutral width at a low number? Some radios need a wider range to find it. I have mine at 4 and my MT-4 finds it. But some radios need more.

yes I'm quoting myself........

had a gen 1 RX8 crap out today. Put a brand new Gen2 RX8 in, it was hotwired. 10 minutes later I turn it on to try it out and 2 seconds later it smokes. Needless to say I'm not happy. I guess my fail rate is around 30+%

Futaba? reverse throttle

Try reversing your throttle channel. Ko and Futaba require it.

Both of these "quotes" are not the norm and having those types of failures we should have been approached to sort the issue out. In general if a guy has one failure, it can happen. 2 failures in back to back problems...we're missing an attributing factor.

A bad or shorted motor can run fine but will start taking down esc's if it's not caught. SO if you're one of those guys please either contact me here or via email: [email protected] and I'll help sort out your car.

Sounds like you didn't get a proper radio calibration. Set your travels to 100/100 and assure your brake power on your radio is at 100 prior to calibrating.

The calibration sequence is simple and in your manual.

Motor was brand new with the brand new Gen2 RX8. That wasn't the issue (bad or shorted motor). If I would have called or contacted Tekin about these it would not have changed the esc smoking after 3 seconds of being turned on.

I've also had 4-5 ESC's in the last 2 months crap out with 3 of them with less than 30 minutes of run time.

Electronics...... you're doing it wrong. What kind of batteries are you running? There is something on your end that is clearly causing a problem. You're failure rate says so. RX8s just don't crap out in first 30 minutes for no reason.
