Savox servo's now say "lock protection" what does that mean?
 

I just bought a new Savox servo and on the package it says "lock protection" .What does that mean ?its has no information about what that is in or on the packaging .

The lock protection means that if it's unloaded for 30 seconds or more it goes to 1/2 power.

1/2 power while it is unloaded? Aka when the motor is off in the first place?

I don't think the whole "half power after 30 seconds" makes much sense. It has to be more than that.

I would imagine it has to do with your seering lock, aka your endpoint. If your end point is not adjusted right (too far), you put stress on the servo by throwing it too far and binding against some sort of piece on your model. A lot of servos will buzz, (or in the case of savox) buzz louder.

Most of the time this happens when you set everything straight, and then when you get on the track you adjust your trim, then that throws your endpoint off again.

Because I want to find out what it does/the point of it and didn't want to make a new thread just for someone to link me to this one :P

So it when the angle of the servo doesn't change rather than the load governing it? Meaning it prevents it from from overheating after a while?

No, it's protection from an endpoint that is adjusted too far. When you have the wheel turned all the way. Please re-read my post again. Lol

Right, so if it's cutting to half power after 30 seconds (based on the first reply), it's to keep it from overloading itself for a long time? Or should I ignore the first reply all together? lol

I guess it really makes no difference to me but my curiosity has the best of me now...

And even if the epa was off a bit and your'e hitting the steering stops it's only for microseconds. I'm curious too.
