MyLaps RC4 system help

I am looking for some help. I have 4 cloned transponders and my local track got the upgrade to the RC4 system witch from reports from the track have rendered my transponders useless. A lot of other racers and I are to say the least VERY upset with this as it forces all of us to buy new transponders. When you run three & four classes it gets expensive.

So from what is the difference in the RC4 & the Hybrid? There is a big difference in the upgrade price! Ive heard the hybrid is going away???? Can someone please shed some light on this for me?

If this should be placed in another section please let me know. I appreciate the help.

I'd recommended getting the hybrid unless of course you want the new features of temp, voltage and car ID then you'll need the RC4. But the RC4 only works with RC4 decoders.

It doesn't matter if you have an rc4 hybrid, or rc4 purcy... they both have temp and voltage feature... but you need an rc4 decoder & software to see it. As for the car ID, you can get that with the old DP, rc2, rc4H, rc4P.. you just have to register your transponder with MyLaps, and your track has to be linked to there system.... only thing is, no matter what car/class you run in it will only show up in one class. Only the rc4P allows you to get MyLaps "clones" which have an 8th digit to identify class.

I did. Didn't find them. That's why I asked. I am sorry if my question troubled you.

That is EXACTLY the situation I posted about in other threads. Short sighted owners forcing their customers to change. For what gain ? Ambient temperature ?
I understand Mylaps position so I won't go into that.
But they are giving away the decoders and MORE than making it up on PT's

nothing but a sucker punch to the face imo

How exactly is MyLaps forcing anyone one to change anything? All thier previous decoders still work with all thier transponders with the exception of the RC4 pure. All thier previous and current transponders work with the RC4 decoder. You have the option to to buy the RC4 Pure or RC4 Hybrid.

Mylap's was smart from a business position. Cant fault them for that, Give the track owners an unbeatable deal on the upgrade to their system and them make all your money on racers having to upgrade transponders.
That being said as the guy having to shell out $350 in new transponders, I'm not happy about it.
There is a growing number of racers in my area that are planning a boycott of tracks & hobby shops that do the upgrade. Limits racing choices but trying to control costs.

It's not the tracks fault... My Laps started selling cheaper transponders ( RC4 ) Racers start showing up with them and the rc4's don't work on the old Ilaps 2 system or in the My laps 3 system ("I'm not going to rent a transponder, and I'm not coming back till my new transponder works here" ) So, owners have to upgrade to the new my laps 4 system... The new RC4 system works for ALL the red house rechargeable transponders and newer ( all Ilaps and My Laps Transponders ) The tracks were offered a chance to upgrade their old timing system to the new RC4 for $350 So, they had to upgrade to the new system. (from a business perspective ) Or risk doing the upgrade later at a cost of $3500 to $4000 dollars.... THAT is the difference between keeping the doors open, and closing the track for some places... Complaining about your ( CLONED ) transponder not working is your own fault... The $20 bucks you saved for buying a "compatible" transponder, wasn't much of a savings ...

There is a trade in program for the transponders too. Its $30 to get a new Hybrid.

As a racer what does the new decoder offer that I need to race 1/10th electric ?
Nothing.
As a track operator what does the new decoder offer that I need to hold races ?
Nothing.
I have been in retail business all my life so I do understand Mylaps motives.
I'm looking at it from a business point of view more so than a racer.
As for the lower price... they are now being sold on ebay at less than the dealer cost was a few months ago. Shafting any dealers who had stock on the shelf.
I have 8 pts in my personal fleet syk. It's not about the money, it's about THEM choosing how I spend it.
Their ONLY motivation is to stop clones.
I totally agree with the premise but not the method they chose to use.
