Speed Passion Problem
Hello, I'm new here and only recently started with RC. I'm from Belgium so anny spelling errors are what they are.
I got a Speed Passion Critix Stock ESC and 13.5T Motor and have some problems with it. When I connect the ESC with the motor without the sensor lead, the motor runs but it stalls/cogs when I throttle up. Once it's running it doesn't exactly impress me but that's another matter. Once I connect the sensor lead, it runs for a few seconds, runs very loud and uneven then simply stops working untill I unplug the sensor lead again. It's the first time I use a brushless system. If you could point me in the right direction where to look, it would be appreciated. |
Are your wires soldered to the correct soldering tab...ex abc?

I bought one of these ESC's for my son's RB5 and was told this ESC would run up to a 7.5 brushless sensored motor so I thought it was perfect as he could upgrade motors as he got better. It was fantastic initially and it handled his motor with ease and the car really moved. This past Saturday we went to practice at the track and it was running fine but suddenly the car stopped but the servo was still turning fine. I thought perhaps something came undone and pulled the motor wires off (I use Bullet Connectors for easy swapping). But upon inspection everything was fine but I immediately noticed a strong burn smell resonating from his NOVAK and then I moved to small the speed controller and it had a similar smell though it was quite faint, so I thought it was perhaps the fumes from the motor making their way to the ESC.
I just now pulled the motor and inspected it internally and all was fine with the exception of the burned electronics odor. So I plugged it up to my LRP Sphere and wouldn't you know it, the motor ran just fine. As well, the turning over of the motor cleared out the smell almost completely. I then plugged up my Tekin motor to his ESC and it did the same thing, a spurt of power and then a grinding like attempt to turn the motor over. I tried a couple of times and then when I touched the Tekin I felt it heating up so I unplugged it immediately. Going back to the hobby shop tomorrow to have them swap it out for something else. I'm very disappointed to have this happen so soon (only been a couple of weeks since I bought it and ran it twice) and it's surprising considering all the good things I've read about Speed Passion. Hopefully I don't get the runaround because I'm not too keen on hearing nonsensical "logic". Your issue sounds eerily similar but sounds like yours is failing right out of the box. |
