Replace receiver antenna?

I have a spektrum sr300 receiver that works fine but the antenna wire is about to complete break right where the wire exits the case.

How can I fix this? Would spektrum be willing to fix it?

I don't own Spektrum receivers, but I have replaced antennas in 3 Futaba receivers, and it is a 5 minute job. Like the Futaba the Spektrum antenna has a snap on connector on the end. Just open up the case, remove the old antenna, and snap on the new one.

On the SR300 receiver the wire is actually soldered to the board. I have replaced quite a few of them. As long as you are good with micro soldering it is not hard to do. I have used servo wire in the past with good results. No one has ever complained and I still have one I did about 1 yr ago in use in one of my bashers. You have to get the length right and I think it was 9 inches from end to end. I would send them in though and see what Spektrum does for you like the poster below. That way you know it is done right ;)

I just sent in 3 different spektrum receivers with broken antennas, and no reciepts. I got an email today that they are fixed and on there way back to me, I didn't pay a dime, other than mailing them.
The wire is not just regular wire, if you expect any kind of range then send them in. I know on my marine rx's it is like a coax.

The antenna on the sr300 is actually "regular" wire.

Spektrum also states it can be cut down to 3 5/8".

Coax antennas can't be cut though. Like those on the 3100.

thanks for the info guys. i'll send it to spektrum and let them fix it.

Well I sent it in on Monday with the expectation that I would have to pay for it to be fixed and return shipping. I actually talked to someone at Spektrum before sending it in and he told me it would cost to get it serviced. Was expecting to pay about $25 since it isn't under warranty.

Got an email today saying it was fixed and shipped back to me today, no charge. That's what I call customer service!

Guess that's better than my Futaba. Have a brand new R304SB Receiver with my new 4PLS and somehow it got cut while I was building the new car. Never been used yet. Called Futaba service and they said it would be $65 to install a new antenna. I can buy a brand new R304SB Receiver for $49. That's kind of crappy.

Or call futaba and just buy a new antenna for $7.

Is that 3 5/8 out of the case? Or total, thanks

The manual doesn't say where to measure it from. I would go from the case to be safe.

Is there any ground or just a little wire to solder?

The SR300 is a single wire without ground.

I have an SR4220... wish I could post a pic.
