Tekin RX8 batteries?

What c rating will i NEED to make sure this esc doesn't fry. I have some 20c lipo's here already that i WANT to change out but can't for a bit. I will be running the tekin 1700kv motor in my rc8b conversion. It's been a while BUT i thought i remembered if i use mechanical breaks instead of the motor i don't have to have as high of c ratings? is this true or am i remembering it completely wrong?

The rx8 won't fry as long add you use 6s or lower Lipo

C rating is how much "punch" you will get off line. Doesn't matter if you use mech brakes or not. Usually the higher the c rating the more efficiant the esc will be like less heat and stress on esc. Never seen anyone run 20c batteries in an eight scale. Usually at least 30 or higher and at least 5000mah. Not sure of the amp draw on the motor but you want to make sure your batteries will supply enough amps. As in 5000mah 30c = 150 amps. Not sure about tekins but I know castles will fry if you don't have enough of a c rating.

I use 20c in my savage because i have to many of them. I will be picking up some 50c gens ace here soon if they are still in stock when i get paid. I was just asking because the motor and esc should be here any day now.

We recommend at least 30c with our systems.

there is no standard in C ratings so don't trust them, the only effective way to mesure the quality of a lipo is the internal resistance

go for a brand that uses known cells if you can, gens ace are good for the price, not the best on the market of course but they do the job as well as high C rated nanotechs, the best being enerland and kokam -speaking about the cells here-

typically a 25C rated gens ace will provide more amps than many other brands, I'm using them with my RX8 with no problem. I used many 25C hyperion lipos too in the past with no troubles either. The highest your voltage is the lowest C rating you'll need
