Absolutely agree, unfortunately, Castle and Horizon thought it could handle the demands of the SCTE, and packaged it in the RTR, which was my first exposure. It doesn't seem to do well. I am getting mine repaired and putting it into my LCG Pro-2 2WD Slash conversion. I think its a good ESC, just not with a heavy 4x4 SCTE as you mentioned.

I talked with their rep last year. This time hopefully he will be there. I just gotta ask him, what were they thinking?
Kinda like using a car instead of a locomotive.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I thought about shorting the PCB to eliminate the switch wires, but this would void the warranty. I also tried going to an older firmware and then back to the newest.

Anyway... I'll get my Tekin at the end of this week :)

There is another possibility, the sensor plug is fairly fragile & could have pulled loose just attaching or removing the sensor cable. They had a run of 1 cells that were that way I can't tell you how I saw personally. They warrantied them all I believe. Good luck with the Tekin, hope it makes it fun again.

But we are talking about 4x4 6.5 lbs or less. SC or Buggy 4x4 is 4x4. No offense taken & none meant, that is why I intend to ask the Castle rep. The highest motor it recommends is the 2650 in SC 4x4. The lowest it recommends against is the 4600. What are we not reading right?

That's just an application guide for Castle's motors. Nowhere on that link does it say that the 2650 is the max motor you can run with an MMP; it's just the biggest Castle brand motor that's compatible.

I disagree. KV is KV

The Losi RTR comes with a 550, 4-pole, 2800Kv brushless motor. Looks like CC IMO. Edgy, but it should be able to handle it based on that.

Just got back from the track, running my B44.2 with the new Tekin.

Went very well!

Except I fried my Castle Sidewinder SCT esc in my short course...

Mamba max pro is garbage. The bec is garbage. I ran a Novak 9.5 ballistic in a 2wd sc10 with a 94358 servo and spk micro receiver. Brow outs, glitches, clogging like crazy. Sent it in and got a new one, same thing. Third one, same. Put in a 5 year old $50 eBay special Novak GTB, the purple one, problem solved. And lap times dropped 1.5 seconds without any other changes. My lesson, never buy another Castle anything. The whole time, customer service blamed my brand new motor. When I tried 3 other motors, then it was my brand new batteries. When I tried 4 separate brand new packs, it was my Deans plugs. When that wasn't it, he blamed something else. When I said your esc is on eBay because a 5 year old Novak runs better and has no issues, I got no response. Castle sucks.

I've been running a mmp in my scte for almost 3 months no issues. All i did is add an external bec and works no problems. Yeah castle sucks! If anything spektrum sucks.

Yep, 4pk-s solved that.

I ran an mmp and a tekin scx4 4.5, savox servo for a year in my scte with zero problems. Radio gear was a DX3R ,
only needed a glitch buster.
