lipo voltage regulator help

thinking about switching to lipos im sure most everyone runs them..
would the spektrum voltage protector be sufficient enough orrrr would i need something else any feed back would be greatly appreciated thanks

The Spektrum Voltage Protector is a cap, not a regulator.

You need to post what servos you are using and what battery you plan on running.

umm running spektrum s8000 s6040 protek 2300 and i run spektrum tx rx

Buy a HV servo from J2rc :)

I would not risk using the traditional 5A regulators out there on the market (Losi, Associated, etc). They don't have enough current for high powered servos of today.

I think you'd be better off getting a regulator with 10A capability, like the Orion (though chances are it may not fit in your car): http://www.teamorion.com/voltage-reg...0-amps-de.html Someone else made a 10A, but I can't remember who right now.

Well the Rx is lipo ready. Aren't the servos?

It would probably just be easier to swap to a LiFe pack if your charger is capable of it. One less thing to fail.

Was kinda leaning towards life pack seems like less of a headache

Too bad that LiFe batteries don't seem to hold up very well. I've seen a few too many failures.

It's worth it to moveup toHV servos and straight lipo.

Don't really want to buy new servos tho

Use a LiFe from a trusted brand and you won't have any problems and you can use your existing servos.

Was thinking about getting a protek one??

Drip 12-13-2012 08:48 AM

Until you upgrade to hb servos there is really no need the to a life or lipo pack.

jy144 12-13-2012 09:28 AM

Yea but life packs last longer work better and hold their charge longer than nimh batteries?
