Advanced timing for dummies.
 

Please explain once and for all what parameter does what. Like what does the start rpm has to do with the end rpm and when do I need turbo? Like the thread said. Advanced timing for dummies.

I run 12th scale for the first time and what ever I try the "old dogs" run both faster than me in the slow areas and on the straight. I can drive thoug. Only that last punch that is missing. I hate this advanced s*** but it is the only 12th scale class we run in our small country.

I am new to this but I will tell you what I've been told.
Adding timing is to increase power of motor.
Start RPM and end RPM is the range that the "turbo" runs in.
I run the 1/10 AE B4.1 with start RPM at around 5000 and end around 20000.
What this does is it kicks in the turbo when the RPMs goes over 5000 rpms. Because the range is large, the burst is smooth. For example if start was 5000 and end was 10000 the turbo would be stronger faster. I also run a little higher start rpm so the turbo does not kick in on the turns of "s" and throw the buggy out of control.I hope this helps. Just test it by making small changes and turning a few laps.

Sorry but I forgot to mention. Pay close attention to the temp of your speedo and motor when changing timing. My need to change the gearing if your motor gets to hot.

What is the difference between boost and turbo?

It doesn't say in the instructions that came with your esc?

Boost is timing advance in the esc versus on the motor can. Turbo is extra boost across a selectable rpm range.
