Default LiPo battery for transmitters?

hi guys, i have a few questions.

first off, ive been noticing people have been putting lipos into their tx's.

i assume so because it possibly lighter, last longer, and is rechargeable. correct me if im wrong.

anyways my question is as follows:
after use, im sure there's still a good amount of voltage in the lipo, do you guys just leave it or do you guys put it into storage mode after each use? i ask because at most i use my rc two times a week for about 3-4 hours each.

my other question is that what cells are you guys using? is it 2s (7.4v?)

my radio is the sanwa/airtronics mt-4.

ive searched and seen what people are using, but not specifically what is allowed.

any help is appreciated, thanks.

I use a 3 cell Lipo in my 3PK and only charge it 3 times a year. That's used mostly on a weekly basis too. Leave it in the radio and I charge it at 2 amps on any lipo charger. When the voltage read-out on the radio gets down to around 9.5 volts, time to re-charge. Happy with this!!!

so you never discharge or put into storage mode your lipo in your tx? only recharge when it drops down?

Your radio will accept LiPo or LiFe. Some newer radios won't accept a LiPo, like the Futaba 4PKS, but you can use a 2s LiFe. Just check the specs on your radio before you buy a battery.

The Airtronics MT-4 specifies:

Accepts Optional Ni-Cd or Ni-MH Batteries or 2S Li-Po or 2S Li-Fe/A123 Battery Packs

I have an MT4 that I run a ~1100 mAh 2S LiPO pack in. Never use storage mode for this batt, personally.

I've charged it once is 3 months; freaking awesome. Just make sure you don't leave your radio on by mistake
