LiPo Charging?!
I have a Xcelorin 3800 mAh 60c shorty pack, I've never had problems with this one, or my 4 others. But it was charging today, for two hours. I watched it the entire time for safety reasons, and it just kept going! It worked fine the last time it was used, (last week) and idk what the problem could be. It would be awesome to get it figured out before racing tomorrow.
Thanks everyone! |
Was your charger on all the right settings? Lipo, 2s, 3800mah.

What charger and power supply do you use? If you use a charger with an internal PSU, sometimes when they get close to a full charge, and close to their temperature maximum, they bounce the charge rate up and down to try and cool off. Other chargers will drop the charge rate significantly if your pack cells are more than .2 volts apart until they balance out.

Protek 610 duo and Protek Super Pro 20. Should I try it later?

weird, they were both at 4.2.

I have the same problem when trying to charge my revtech packs , it will take all day to charge 1 pack but only a hour to charge my black cased fantoms .

Look at the individual cells. If they are both at ~4.2V, run it. It will be fine.

i balance charged mine the other day and it took 7.5 hours before it finished. i had the charger set to a trickle but it finally finished. run it and try again, just watch it if indoors

The balance charger on this charger actually works. Its a small current exchange so it can take some time if the pack is out of balance a bit.

■** Never trickle charge a Li-Po battery. Over-voltage from trickle charging will destroy your Li-Po and can explode the pack. Medium charge rates are calculated at .5 maximum C. Debate continues over the benefits of charging Li-Pos at medium rates but there is no data to support that it causes any harm provided you always use a charger made for Li-Po batteries with the correct charge termination methods. See the Batteries and Chargers sections for more information about battery charging.] taken from, http://2bfly.com/tools/ http://2bfly.com/knowledgebase/batte...ckle-charging/ |
[QUOTE=mtpocketsracing;11504529]I thought you're not supposed to trickle charge lipos?
I guess I mis-spoke by saying "trickle charged", I did it at 1 amp rather than the 3.8 I use normally. It's a xceliron 3,800mha 60c shorty pack Is 1 amp too low of a charge, now I'm nervous....lol. I have a good charger can't think of the name off the top of my head, it can do 4 batteries at a time. I have been accused of "speaking out of my butt because my mouth knows better"...lol Sorry to the OP for the unintended hijacking |
