Simple Battery Question

I haven't used my off-road truck or buggy in three months. When I stopped running I had all my batteries charged ready to go for the next time I drove. The next time didn't come and now it's been three months. What should I do with the batteries? Should I just run them for whatever juice is left in them? Should I try to discharge them? Or, should I charge them as they sit? I am using Lipo batteries! Thanks!

Your batteries are toast. Buy new ones or risk burning your house/car/etc down.

NEVER store them fully charged.

Then how should Lipos be stored? Thanks!

It's unlikely they're toast, just keep a good eye on them on the first run, or use the "discharge" or cycle function on your charger, also keeping a close eye on them. 3 months isn't that long.

As for storage, If your charger has a "storage" function, this will bring them down to 7.6 volts (for a 2 cell) which is said to be a safe storage voltage. Many racers I know also put them in the fridge after bringing them down to 7.6v. (ask the wife first). From what I hear, this is like hibernation for the batts.

I'm no expert, but that's what I do.

Batts should be fine. run them for 5min then slow balance charge them, at a low rate. say, 1-2Amp.

I cant see them "being fine" but if they're not puffed, check the voltage with a voltmeter or your charger and go from there. Letting them sit for even more than 48 hrs fully charged is NOT what you want to do. 3.8V per cell is what you want them to be at when not being used.

Most balance chargers have a "storage" option to bring the battery down to a safe level to store it.

Look for that..

Great! Thanks for everyone's responses.
