Charging question
 

I always seemed not to get enough charge into my TX battery pack.

I am using 8 AA Venom 2400 nimh batteries and I charge them all at once

I am using a super brain 969 charger.

I have it set for 2400 nimh at 1.0amp and 5 cell?

I usually get it to 10.5 volt but would like to get it to 11v

anyone have any ideas on what setting to use for this setup?

how can you set how many cells in a linear charge?? Mah you can put in but the amount of cells you can not unless your running your charger in the wrong setting??

it lets me put in the amount...doesnt matter 1 or 5 or whatever it doesn tseem to make a different.......

increase ur threshold voltage.. think ur on 5 try 23mv

Can't you set the charger for 8 cells? (most any good charger will provide a setting for the number of nickel based cells in series).

How warm are the cells getting?

they dont get warm at all and it charges for like 5 minutes then goes to trickle saying its done but the voltage only goes up .2...

gonna try the mv thing get back to ya

it only goes up to 15mv so i put it at that but it was at 5mv

thats only for peak detection and mv is milli volts so thats not going to do it.....

I got a funny feeling there is a cell thats not liking being charged in the pack. how old is the pack??
Cause I can imagine as alot of ppl dont know that NIMH do get memory problems so. You need to know how to do the discharge to zero volts and let it recover by itself in a cool area and then slowly charge in trickle mode for hours til you can get it to work again. But that can only happen so many times before
it just doesnt work any more.

yeah from that answer they will be false peaking so they will not get a full charge and the charger sees a false reading as the battery cant receive a full charge anymore..

Slow discharge them to .9v per cell and then discharge them to zero nice and slow via some 5 watt 390ohm resistors across each cell til zero.
Then once its at zero take the resistors off and let the cells raise slowly back up. Make sure they are all equal in raising in voltage as if they don't then the one or ones that are slower or way to fast in recovering then there is ur problem.

They should get back to about .5volt before a charge should go anywhere near the pack.

Well I just put a charge on them....... I set it at 2400nihm and then ut it as 8 cell with a 1 amp charge rate..... they charged up to 11.55volts... got warm to touch but nothing those old nihms dont already do

mate nimh and nicads get hot regardless charging and discharging.....
