3pk or 4pl
I have a 3pk I bought when it first came out. I dropped my radio. Now only half the screen works on my radio now and I faced with the decsion of fixing the screen, getting another used 3pk buying the very popular 4pl. What would you all do? Which 1 is better?

The 4PL uses none of them and works on Futaba's S-FHSS protocols. That may decide things for you. I have both, a 3pk/3pks and a 4pl, I like the 4pl because of its light weight and rock crawling functions, however, it doesn't have a drop down wheel or switchable for lefties. It does have an extra channel you may or may never use. I must confess, I use a Spektrum DX3R Pro for racing and I like it but then I never used the 4PL for racing only rock crawling. I would imagine that it would work well and with receivers that cast less than half of either Spektrum or FASST. |
I just have 1 FASST receiver . So is the FASST better for racing?

I do know that a FASST receiver is incompatible with a FHSS transmitter. |
screen issue
My screen started dying and sent my 3PK in, it was worth it compared to the price of new radio's. All the options of 2.4 are good options for racing. FASST is great and the rec's should be a bit cheaper as they're not the new fade. I personally now have radiopost and love it.

I thought my 3pk was the business until i killed it and picked up a mt-4 to replace it. dont get me wrong, it was very good, but the newer radio just had a much much better feel in the hand and the smoothness was much better.
mine had a tweaked steering pot and i blew up the fasst module so definitely not cost effective to repair. you would have to pay futaba hourly and parts to fix it and i think their minmum service was $30-40 just to look at your device. my choice would be to sell the fasst module and receiver and put that into a 4pl or similarly priced system. i really cant communicate enough how much smoother i got after getting the newer radio though.. i wanted a cheap one, but im selling it to a friend now to get the m12 lol. |
