I have 2 of the original SS-1 17.5 motors and they are awesome especially for the price. My blinky B5RM is as fast as everyone else, and faster than most (125' straight). I think the HT rotor Trinity's have a little more torque but top speed is at least the same. Through the infield and jumps the car accelerates extremely well. That said I also use I the lightest and smallest gears available, ceramic bearings, the lightest slipper/spur combo I could find, but I use shiny pucks not aluminum, and naturally SMC 4670 shorties (IMHO the best punch of any shorty out there.) I also extensively experimented with FDR until I found the combo that gave the best lap times. External motor temps have never exceeded middle 120's.

Danny is working very hard trying to get the motors done and done right the first time. He received a bunch that they used at the CRCRC race as handout motors. They were decent but not on par with the top of the line motors that are out there. Danny will not release them until they are right. He has been having issues with the factory understanding exactly what it is he wants out of the motors. Last I checked with him things were going better so hopefully he has gotten his point across and we will see them sooner than later.

I run the 160 version in a D413. It replaced a Tekin RS Pro. I like it a lot. Very tunable and is Orion smooth. I would assume that the 120A versions would be very similar.

danny said it was from a different supplier, so thats hard to agree with. but no doubt it will be a very good speed control, top under $100 even i was planning on ordering as soon as it was available, but didnt expect it to be 1st of the month.

Anyone know the difference between the sm-1 and sm-2 mod motors?
Any performance difference?

My 3600/4s packs arrived early this week. I see they're not in stock so I guess pre-orders consumed all of the batteries he got in that batch.

I am curious if the SM2 motor has a temp sensor in it like the SM1 did.

I love the SM1... haven't heard anything on the 2

SM2 is obviously made by Hobby Wing.
