Do I just switch everything over to Deans' connectors? I don't want to use bare bullets, plus I can't...I didn't order that version of the battery. I want to keep all my batteries "universal" so I can charge them all the same and put them in any vehicle, but the only batteries that are giving me this problem are the 6 new SMC batteries. Is there a connector other than deans that would be good? This will be used on everything, SC, 1/8 truggy... What would y'all do, other than start with the batteries with 4mm bullet sockets built in? (Them just look like a problem waiting to happen to me, but to each his own? |
4S actually has less current than 2S. Deans do just fine in either application.

Looks like the 4S would have more current since the amp draw would be higher. To me current is like water in a hose and volts is the pressure in the hose. The amp draw a 4S Truggy motor has is a lot more than what a 2WD buggy would have on 2S.

That's true, heavy truck with small power. Just Like my F150 SuperCrew 4X4 with a 5.4 Triton V8 gets as good as or better than a friends Supercab V6

Anyone? The SC battery has 37 watts of energy The truggy has 106.5 watts of energy. If both run out in the same amount of time, which one was drawing more current? |
It's all about amp draw, if you voltage is high and amperage is low then you can use a much smaller connector. If your voltage is low but your current is really high, you'll need a bigger connector. Wattage and voltage aren't the ones that really determine what connector you should use.
Think about how big your charging cables are and how small the wires are that power your power supply. More power is going to your power supply than what's going to your battery, so doesn't it seem backwards? |
Does anyone have a dead saddle that they want to get rid of, or have any experience disassembling an SMC saddle? I just ordered a couple of saddle sets and need to dis-and re-assemble at least on set. If at all possible I'd like to practice on a dead one first. Thanks

I have an SMC 6500mah 4cell that my charger can
Only charge at max 3.3 amps way below 1c. Will this harm the battery and why! Thanks for your knowledge on this matter. :sweat: |

Saddle Pack balance question: I use a nice little LRP charger and while somewhat slow it does a good job balancing. The other day, I borrowed two packs and one of the two was very badly out of balance and the other was fine. Then, Saturday, I charged my personal pack on someone else's charger and just for kicks I put it on my charger to check balance and it was a bit out of whack but seems normal now. What's going on? I've never seen a pack come out of balance at all when only using my stuff on my charger. I'm using a cutoff voltage of 3.4 on my cars.

The chargers most likely have different calibrations.

Make sure you check the charge leads regularly, I've had some corrosion build up over time under the heat shrink on the connectors and can give funny readings and inaccurate charges. Justin |
