Now what I need to figure out is should I bring in some more of these packs with higher IR and keep offering them at a lower price or just wait until the newest batch of packs gets done and the IR is back down ?

Customer for Life
I have been running SMC batteries for over a year now, and am a customer for life. You can't beat the price, service and performance.
A little story from over the weekend. Before I went to pickup my batteries from the post office, I was handed 2 packs to run "nano tech" never opened. Opened the box from one pack and one of the 1cell from the saddle pack was puffed so bad the case was cracked. At the track I ran both my SMC saddle pack and the Nano Tech, It was like running stock and mod difference. The SMC had so much more punch, while the Nano Tech just felt flat. Its well worth paying a little extra for so much more performance and fast shipping. A+ SMC |

People love choices, so if you can get/sell that at a price that makes business sense for you *and* a real differentiation from the lower IR packs then yes, of course!

Danny,
I was able to get about 7-8 cycles through the 6500 60c 4s packs this past weekend... All I can say is wow, I'm hooked! Both packs balanced nicely. Even though I'm not taxing them as much as I could be, I have no doubt these will be great for outdoors in the summer! 6 Minutes heats, smaller track indoors, RX8 & 1400kv, 4s. Pulled between 1780mah-1900mah from the packs, with a couple-few minutes of warm up laps to boot. Pack and ESC were room temp, motor temp was around 100 degrees or so. Thanks again! |
whats the part # for your shorty packs?

Danny, I don't know whether this thread is a good place for my question, if you think so I'll move it.
I was looking at LiPo homologation rules of ROAR, EFRA and IFMAR and noticed that I and E requires a certification towards a certain UN manual (available here), while R only asks for it if available. The mandatory tests include an external shorting test (T5), and I just can't believe any of current lipo packs would pass, and the overcharging test is also very suspicios. Where's the catch? |

UN T1-T8 is required on packs to be approved by BRCA and ROAR doesn't require this but they do there own safety tests which is based on the UN style testing.
These tests are to make sure factories make reliable cells. That being said a Lipo can still have a issue due to damage or user error so always be safe when using Lipos. Attached are the shorting test and overcharge test results from UN testing on one of our models. |
Thanks, that changed my perception of these batteries a lot. Still trying to accept the fact that they wont explode after such torture... These must be tough little bastards.

When are you getting some shortys back in stock? I got one, and love it... would like another.
