They discharge less.
But, I stopped doing it, a lipo does not discharge very fast any way
when not in use.

Being in northern New Jersey, I only get to race outdoors during the warmer months. So in late fall, I put a storage charge in my 4S packs and put them in my home freezer. I take them out again a few weeks before outdoor starts up again in the spring. It basically reduces the aging of the packs. I've got some 3 year old 4S 25C Thunder Power packs that are has good as ones only a year old.

The key is not to run them while they are cold - that is not good for them.

I wrap the packs in bubble wrap and put them inside large freezer bags with a dessicant pouch to prevent condensation. When I take them out of the freezer, I leave them in the sealed bag for a week until they are completely warmed up (again, to avoid condensation).

Hey all: Just saw these on their facebook page and they look nice. Would like to know who's making them for SMC and will there be 21.5 ,17.5 and 13.5 spec versions as well in the near future. Lol people used to put AA batteries in the fridge cause they thought it made them last longer in the 80's but I havent met anybody who puts the lipos in the fridge that I know, not saying it dosent help but I know tons of racers and none of them freeze the lipos.

I don't do it for any packs except those that I know won't be used for months at a time. It is easier than checking them every so often over the winter (which I would probably forget to do).

A few years ago I had some 4S ProMatch packs and I gave Jeff (ProMatch owner) a link to the article and asked if it would be good to store them in the freezer over the winter. He said yes.

Big day tomorrow, final points series race for the summer ar Rt281 Raceway. I got my SMC 6570 2S after I left (same day) for the previous round so I'm excited to see if the new battery brings extra life to my B4.2 this weekend. Hoping for A Main podium finishes in 2wd Mod buggy and eBuggy powered by SMC.

I charge my 7200mah 2s packs at 5c all the time.

Saddle packs are back in stock BTW.

Danny says 2-3C is best, any higher charge rate and you might not get a full charge... the batteries will handle a higher C rate, though.
