Deans or ec5

IMO XT60 are the best connectors going for 1/8th or smaller. Been running them for 3 years in my 1/8th scales and SC trucks. Cheap, easy to solder and very reliable.

Hi danny,
I emailed you for an postage quote to australia for 4 x 3s packs, looking forward to placing an order after reading through this thread.

What is best connector type in your opinion?

Real Deans or Traxxas are fine in my opinion. I've discharged packs at 80amps continuous with no issues using both of these connectors. Just make sure they are not worn out and fit snuggly.

I should have your shipping quote early next week. Need to get info from UPS on how to get the true shipping rate for your postal code.

Are you going to have any of the 4s packs coming in soon?

What model of 4S do you have ?

Does your charger give you the voltage of each cell ?

You can email me this info and maybe I can help figure out what could be going on.

Hideeho
I just put my pre-order in moments ago:nod: I'm also getting a 70c shorty, so now I'll be all SMC lipos for all 3 buggies!

Captcha 07-05-2013 06:56 PM

Do these shorties come pre charged? I plugged it in an it was conplete in 4 seconds?

BashemSmashem 07-05-2013 07:00 PM

they come about 3/4 of the way charged , about 3.8v per cell ......

RC*PHREAK 07-05-2013 07:01 PM

there should be a sticker in the box that showed how much voltage was in each cell.

Captcha 07-05-2013 07:13 PM

3.83 each cell.

Using an onyx 230 charger. What current should i charge at? It offers 0.1-7A

Joel Lagace 07-05-2013 07:37 PM

7amps

You can safely charge at double the amperage of the pack, 7a will be fine.or you can pull it t back a bit if you want but it will take longer.

Captcha 07-05-2013 09:07 PM

I went to 7A the settings on the charger are as follows.

Lipo/2s[7.4v]/7A/4600MAH no matter what it will not charge past 4 seconds.

I am just trying to avoid ruining either the lipo or the charger.

I appreciate all the help.

fq06 07-05-2013 09:11 PM

What voltage does the charger say the pack is at? 8.4v or close to it? Not familiar with yours but just about all of them show the voltage, MAH put in and the time it's been charging.

Are you in balance charge mode? Or storage charge mode?

Run your car up and down the street for a few minutes to take some juice out of it and try the 2 cell balance charge again.

Edit:
Quote.. Lipo/2s[7.4v]/7A/4600MAH
Don't limit the charge level, just let the charger figure it out. Not that you setting a max charge mah is your issue, but just let the charger put what it wants to back into the pack.

Try 4.6a charge rate (1c if your charging a 4600 mah pack). Your charger will do 50w max ac, not breaking out the calculator to see if 7a is over 50w for your pack and your charger should adjust down by itself if that's the case... but worth a try.
Sounds like a charger setting issue to me.

Thanks ill give it a try
