ESC for both 2S & 4S

Just finished getting my 1/8 e-buggy setup and the ESC is setup to run two 2S packs. I have plenty of 2S packs but like the convenience of 1 pack so plan to start buying some 4S packs. Now I will be buying them one at a time over the next few weeks but wanted to be able to use two 2S as well. Is there an easy way to do this that I am overlooking? Or will I need to have a single connector on my ESC and duplicate the y connector after the single connector. If you look at the diagram I posted (no making fun of it folks :lol::lol:) the top is how I am setup now and the bottom is how I assume I will have to set it up to maintain the flexibility to run both.

If you plan to use both you will need to just put a single connector on the ESC and use an adapter to plug in the paired 2S. If you have a rig set up to do both would that leave an open plug that is hot and could short out?

The basic solutions both have a drawback.

The adapter is more plugs to fail.

The dual battery setup adds some weight.

I would just keep it simple and do paired 2S packs and wire the ESC to run them in series. Take the issue of weight over adapters.
